I represented the United States at a World Boy Scout Jamboree in Japan. Throughout my teenage years, I played competitive tennis and earned many state rankings. My high school tennis team won the high school national championship.. I chose to attend college at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia so that I could play college tennis. While at Mercer, I was a four year letterman on the tennis team. I was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated with a double major in Business Administration and History.. I always aspired to be an attorney. My grandfather, for whom I am named, was a long time attorney. Upon college graduation, I enrolled at Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. During law school, I was a member of the Mercer Law Review and served as Associate Editor of the law review publications. I graduated from law school in 1982 and returned home to Anderson to start practicing law.. I practiced in a partnership for 14 years, which focused on civil litigation involving personal injury, medical malpractice and products liability. As my law practice grew, I developed a keen interest in handling workers' compensation claims. In 1996, I formed my own firm with a goal of focusing my practice in the area of workers' compensation.
