Jeffrey M. Kolokoff is a trial lawyer and retired judge. In addition to trial work, he works as a private judge, arbitrator, mediator, special magistrate, and attorney's fee expert. Judge Kolokoff is a magna cum laude graduate of Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude 2006; Certificate in Advanced Legal Drafting, Research, and Writing, Law Review, Moot Court, Dean's List all semesters, Merit Scholarship Recipient) and Bucknell University (B.A. Economics, 2001). Additionally, Judge Kolokoff is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a skilled financial, banking, mortgage, and insurance fraud investigator. Judge Kolokoff is admitted in State and Federal Courts in Florida and Colorado, and in the District of Columbia, as well as numerous other courts.. Prior to receiving his law degree, Judge Kolokoff worked at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley and gained valuable experience in consumer finance, financial markets, and stock brokerage.. Judge Kolokoff began his legal career as a prosecutor in Miami and focused his practice on complex white collar fraud and tried numerous jury trials to verdict. In addition to fraud cases, Judge Kolokoff also prosecuted drug trafficking, violent crimes, and other crimes. Judge Kolokoff served as Assistant Chief of County Court from 2007-2008 and supervised nearly seventy misdemeanor prosecutors.. Judge Kolokoff joined a South Florida boutique firm in 2012 where he represented clients in a broad range of matters focusing in civil litigation, major provider fraud, and defense of fraudulent claims. He was appointed to the Miami-Dade County bench in 2020 and served until 2023. He presided over criminal and civil cases as a County Court Judge and Acting Circuit Judge and was the most trial active judge in the Circuit during his term. He then joined a national firm where zelously represented institutional clients and private clients in many matters including breach of contract, misappropration of intellectual property, civil theft, premises liability, and wrongful death.. Judge Kolokoff served as Chair of The Florida Bar Standing Committee on the Unlicensed Practice of Law (Chair 2015-2017; Vce Chair 2014; Member 2011-2017) and also on the Professional Ethics Committee of The Florida Bar (2018-2024). He is a member of numerous organizations including the Miami-Dade Bar and League of Prosecutors.. Judge Kolokoff is a die-hard Miami Heat Fan (and longtime season ticket holder), personally witnessed the Miami Dolphins last playoff win, and throughly enjoyed the Florida Panthers Stanley Cup defense. He is married to a practicing family lawyer and has three children.
