In law school, Jim received the 1996 AmJur award for Jurisprudence as well as the Excellence in Oral Advocacy and Distinguished Academic Achievement awards.. Jim is also a Captain with the Wilton Fire Department, an IAFF affiliated career department in Connecticut where as part of a team, leads companies responding to varied emergencies, including fire, rescue and hazardous materials incidents.  Jim has served on Local 2233's Executive Board and on all Contract and Pension Negotiating Committees, directly involved in all negotiations, mediations and arbitrations..
