Ronald Larry Baum was born in Baltimore, Md. in 1956 and earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Maryland.  While attending college he was a regular member of the Dean’s List for academic achievement.  He also participated in intramural sports and earned medals in swimming, diving, wrestling, and softball.  Toward the end of his collegiate career he got his first job as a private investigator working in the Md., D.C., and Va. area..
