I graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in April, 1984. I was admitted to the Florida Bar in October, 1984, first working with the Law Offices of Lawrence Michael Shoot in Miami. I was immediately immersed in the fields of Family Law, Real Property and Title Insurance, Corporations, Estate Planning and Probate. My work load also included over forty foreclosure actions. I opened my own practice in June, 1986, moving to Broward County to be closer to family, and have continuously been a sole practitioner here ever since.. My practice continued to include the above areas of practice, adding business purchases and sales along the way. I fazed out my family law practice over fifteen years ago. After building a successful portion of my practice in that area of law, I found that area of practice less than satisfying. For the past fifteen plus years my practice has continued to evolve further toward real estate closings and title work, both residential and commercial. I eventually formed Expert Title Company with Steven H. Naturman, Esq. in January, 2002. We currently are underwritten by Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Stewart Title Guaranty Company. I average approximately 20 to 25 CLE credits each year in the real estate and title insurance fields.. Between 2003 and 2007 I handled hundreds of residential real estate closings for Regions Bank, as well as a number of commercial transactions for them, before the market downturn and personnel changes affected our relationships. Previously we have represented and handled transactions, both residential and/or commercial for Premier Community Bank (no longer in existence), and currently for Florida Shores Bank and FirstBank Florida. I have a new relationship with the re-invigorated Bank United.. There has never been any action taken (except one frivolous lawsuit many years ago that was immediately dismissed after one letter from Mr. Naturman), insurance claim filed, nor any bar complaint filed with regard to any legal representation or with regard to any real estate closing handled by me or Expert Title . I maintained the same office location from November 1, 1987 through March 31, 1997 in east Fort Lauderdale, then the same location in Cypress Creek from April 1, 1997 through July, 2007, and now have been at my current location in Deerfield Beach since that time.. My philosophy is ‘to handle each matter/closing the right way’. I run my title agency with the same standards as I run my law office. While I endeavor to satisfy all the needs of my clients/lenders, I will not deviate from sound principals of law, ethics and lender guidelines provided. That is part of the reason I have never had any claims brought, and I do not worry about the authorities coming to my office, as has happened to many others in recent times. Lenders need to have confidence that the title agent is protecting them, as well as guiding the transaction to fruition.. This has been a very brief synopsis of my twenty-five plus year legal and real estate/title insurance career. Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
