I have been in private practice for the past 40 plus years. In the first 20 years there was extensive experience in the areas of GENERAL CIVIL LITIGATION, REAL ESTATE, PROBATE, FEDERAL & STATE TAXATION, CORPORATE, PARTNERSHIP, ESTATE PLANNING, BANKRUPTCY, and GENERAL PRACTICE. All this occurred before my practice began a concentration in the FAMILY LAW LITIGATION ISSUES. As a result of my back ground and experience, I have developed skills in accounting & legal areas that are involved in every divorce and family law case. There are few cases where the assets or liabilities are not affected by laws relating to real estate, estate planning, business (corporate & partnership) and taxation. Experiences in these areas are a definite asset in my practice.

I am a life-long Will County resident, married, the father of two and the son of two lawyers both of whom I have practiced law. Drawing on their experiences and my 26 years of practicing law, I can often bring a perspective to cases that many attorneys do not. Basically, I think of myself as an "old school" attorney - one more interested in fighting the cases that have serious issues in them and working hard to settle the cases where either there are slim chances of success or the cost of prevailing doesn't justify full-blown litigation.. Abraham Lincoln understood that compromise is necessary in certain circumstances. "Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can," he wrote in a lecture for lawyers. "Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser--in fees, and expenses, and waste of time.". I love that quote because the real job of any professional is to tell you the truth and assess your situation - not simply tell you what you want to hear. I often advise clients that "lawyers make more money when clients fight" and we make much less when they settle. A good lawyer will help you tell the difference so that your best interests are served - not theirs. Divorces in particular are prone to emotional decisions. These emotions can cloud judgment and prevent settlement. Of course there will always be cases that need to be litigated aggressively. I am prepared for difficult cases and fight hard for my client's rights in those instances.. I am also invested in my community serving as the past President of Troy Consolidated School District School Board and past board member for the Guardian Angel Community Services of Will County and I actively volunteer my time with the Will County Legal Assistance Program and Pro Bono Program and have served on the Illinois Supreme Court's Committee on Access to Justice helping draft state-wide forms for all of Illinois.

I know that I can help people through a major transition in their lives and make the process less painful for them, and, most importantly, for their children. Navigating the court system can be tricky enough. Add in the powerful emotions that come with a domestic relations dispute and you need an informed, empathetic, yet cooler head, on your side. I create relationships with my clients that allow me to focus on their needs, and resolve their legal issues in an expedient and dignified matter. My mediation training and Collaborative Law training and role as a Fellow at the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois provide me with additional skills in alternative dispute resolution that can be used in and out of the courtroom. I handle pre-decree divorce cases, child support enforcement, orders of protection, pre-nuptial agreements, post-decree enforcement, paternity cases, college contribution cases, guardianships and adoptions, as well as mediation and collaborative cases. I make sure to meet my client's needs, and when it is outside my realm of expertise, I am ready with referrals to professionals my client may need during, or after, their case, such as business valuators, appraisers, custody evaluators, mortgage specialists, financial experts, and more.If you want an attorney who will see you as a real person, with real issues, and who needs real results, then contact me. I am a firm believer that a person benefits greatly from having interests outside of their work. Those interests can certainly involve people with whom you work, but it is designed for fun and getting together with friends and family. I have a number of interests that I love to do: kayaking nearly every weekend on either the Chicago River or Lake Michigan (depending on the weather of course); cooking; and sewing. A number of lady attorneys that I have worked with over the years fondly say that they learned everything that they know how to do as an attorney from their sewing training and skills. If you can tailor a suit, you can figure out how to manage just about any problem. It is all a matter of standing back and coming up with a plan first!

The first divorce I handled was my own. I personally understand the emotional turmoil associated with a family law case. By making the process as easy as possible reduces my clients' level of stress and anxiety.. CURRICULUM VITAE. 2000-2005. While attending Southern Illinois University School of Law, I worked for two local law firms and conducted mediations for the SIU Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinic. I began my legal career in Ogle County working for a former Ogle County State's attorney in a general practice firm. Although involved in many different types of law, the majority of my practice was family law.. 2005-2007. I created the civil practice for a high volume criminal firm in Rockford. I saw the need for the firm to assist criminal clients with Orders of Protection as well as their divorce, paternity, and custody cases. Many clients needed their child support reduced. Some clients needed to execute a power of attorney or a will while their criminal cases were pending. This role gave me invaluable insight in the attorney-client relationship and the value of meeting clients' needs.. LAW OFFICE OF ANGELA LUND-LOGAN. I opened my own law firm to focus on the needs of clients. Because a family law case strains an individual both mentally and monetarily, every clients needs to have effect representation at a reasonable rate.. GOAL: resolved every case as cost-effective and quickly as possible while pursuing the client's objectives. UNDERSTANDNG THE CASE. Explaining each state, each document, and each court appearance, I take the confusion out of a family law case. When a client understands what is being said in court and in the pleadings, clients are able to actively participate in the case. The process shouldn't be a mystery. With me as your attorney, you will understand the process, the paperwork, and the court proceedings.. LIMITED PRACTICE OF ATTORNEY ANGELA LUND-LOGAN. FAMILY LAW. I limit my practice to family law cases. There are many attorneys who practice family law but few practice only family law. If you have a family law case, you need an attorney, such as myself, who solely practices family law. Limiting my practice allows me to be familiar with the vast nuances of each accept involved in the practice of family law: custody, visitation, child support, maintenance, retirement accounts, real property, personal property, debt allocation, college expenses, etc.. JUDGES. Knowing the judge is key to representing clients effectively. If you do not regularly appear before a judge it is difficult to advise clients about that judge. Learning the idiosyncrasies of a judge is just as important as knowing how that judge interprets the law. To be cognizant of the family law judges I limits my practice to Boone and Winnebago counties.. COUNTIES. Every county is part of a Judicial Circuit. Each circuit has its own local court rules that apply only to the counties in the circuit. In addition to the Illinois Supreme Court Rules and the statutes, attorneys must know the local court rules. These rules vary widely between circuits. The 17th Judicial Circuit does not have any rules about contempt petitions whereas the 15th Judicial Circuit has extensive rules. Failure to know the local court rules can have expensive consequences for clients. I limit my family law practice to the two counties of the 17th Judicial Circuit: Boone and Winnebago.
