He is deeply involved in the local community, serving on the board of directors of the United Way of Champaign County; serving as the chairman of the board of Family Service of Champaign County, the oldest private social service agency in Champaign County; serving on the board and as past chairman of the Emerging Community Leaders division of the United Way of Champaign County; serving as the commissioner of Kiwanis C-U Little League, overseeing six independently chartered Little League youth baseball programs throughout Champaign-Urbana; and serving as an assistant Varsity baseball coach at his alma mater, Urbana High School.
