I am a life-long resident of Northwest Indiana and I attended Valparaiso University's Law School. I have been practicing law for 7 years and worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney before opening my law firm. That means I have a lot of courtroom experience and will be comfortable being Your Voice in court. I have practiced law in Lake County, Porter County, LaPorte County, Jasper County, Starke County & Tippecanoe County throughout my career.. The benefit of being a former deputy prosecuting attorney is that I have significant trial experience. In 2024 I went to trial on six (6) murder cases, as well as completed other trials in my career. This means I know how to present complex legal issues before a jury when representing my clients. This trial experience helps give me a competitive edge in negotiating cases on behalf of my clients - both criminal and personal injury cases. However, if we (my client and myself) do not believe negotiations are going the way we like, then we will go to trial to present the case we believe in to a jury and/or judge.. Every case is different. Every case deserves the highest level of due diligence. When I take on a new case, I review every piece of evidence so that I can give you informed legal advice. I also believe in a patient approach where I will take the time to answer all of your questions. My goal is to make sure you know how your case will impact your life, that means: Career impact, driving privileges, right to own a firearm, etc. We will decide how to proceed on your case as a team once we have gone over the facts and evidence of your case.

Dan Whitehead grew up in Anderson, Indiana, completed his Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree from Ball State, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University – Indianapolis.. Dan overcame tremendous adversity in life as a child when his father and brother were arrested, convicted, and sent to prison. Without the money for high priced attorneys and not having the finer things in life (other than a wonderful grandmother Dan would say), Dan worked his way through school paying his way and earning the grades needed to get into law school so that he may find a way of getting his brother and father released from prison. During this time, Dan was also wrongfully charged criminally but he proved his innocence and was acquitted. Having been through the legal system, wrongfully accused of a crime, he is able to relate to his clients like no other attorney in Madison County.. Dan knows what it is like to go visit family in prison for Christmas. Watching his family torn apart by the legal system, he now looks for ways to use the system to strengthen children. As he watches parents find ways of attacking the other parent inside and outside the courtroom, he tells clients, “Children need love, trust, and hope. Look in the mirror, ‘Am I really doing this to my kid?’ A child will blame themselves.” He aims to work to resolve family conflict in peaceful resolutions with visitation and custody plans that focus on the children, because in the end, it is what the parents want as well – well adjusted happy children.. Recently Dan has been speaking out as a cancer survivor beating stage 4 cancer. He truly believes through his life’s work you can always overcome adversity.

Recently:: Jury aquits man who admitted escape from prison.. CLARK COUNTY, Ind. —. An Indiana man admitted to a prison escape, but a jury found him not guilty of the charge of felony escape. Rodney Miller was the subject of a manhunt in December after he got out of the Henryville Correctional Unit. “Escape is kind of like a no-brainer. It's ‘Is you is or is you ain't in jail?’ You know? And if you ain't you're guilty, right? That's what I thought,” defense attorney David Mosley said.. When the court handed Mosley Miller’s case, he learned there was more to the story. Some facts were indisputable. There is video of Miller leaving the now-closed minimum security Henryville Correctional Unit in December. Miller was later found 90 miles away from the complex with his girlfriend.. Miller said he escaped because he was afraid his girlfriend was going to abort their child.. Mosley mounted a defense using a rarely cited Indiana law of a crime of duress. “I just thought this is absolutely crazy. He pulled it out of a hat.” Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Zynthia Arocena said. Arocena showed WLKY an interview in which she said Miller contradicted his claim that the escape was about his girlfriend.. The jury deliberated for about 30 minutes. The verdict? Not guilty.. He was being held on a felony theft charge.. If he had been convicted, he faced four years in prison. (By Ben Jackey, WLKY NEWS). and. Haddad, Jr., and Burton Milward (author of Kentucky Criminal Practice and Reversible Error in Kentucky...both handbooks for practicing criminal law in Kentucky).
