Andrew Jezic

Firm: Law Offices of Jezic & Moyse, LLC
2730 University Blvd W , Silver Spring , Maryland 20902
Practice Areas: Criminal Defense , Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Criminal Defense, Criminal Defense, Criminal Defense
In 2022, 2023, and 2024, Superlawyers magazine voted Mr. Jezic as one the Top 10 Best Lawyers in all of Maryland (among 40,000 lawyers). Prior to entering private practice in 2003, DC criminal lawyer Andrew V. Jezic served as a Maryland prosecutor for nearly eight years. During his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Jezic prosecuted some of the most serious felony cases in Montgomery and Anne Arundel counties. Now as a Maryland & DC criminal defense attorney, Mr. Jezic aggressively represents defendants around the state and in Washington, D.C. facing such serious charges as murder, rape and armed robbery. He has handled over 140 jury trials in his career and 100 homicide cases.. Mr. Jezic has been selected to three of the most prestigious organizations for any trial lawyer, reflecting his reputation as one of the leading criminal defense attorneys in Maryland.  First, Mr. Jezic is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only group of the leading one percent of trial lawyers in each state.  Second, he is a member of the Trial Court Nominating Commission for Montgomery County, which is the final vetting organization for judicial candidates, passing a streamlined list on to the Governor.  Third, Mr. Jezic is a member of the Maryland State Bar’s Criminal Pattern Jury Instruction Committee, which drafts the final language of the official jury instructions given at the end of a criminal trial.. From 2011 to 2022 Mr Jezic was selected to the very exclusive list of best criminal attorneys by Washingtonian magazine . From 2016 to 2021, Mr. Jezic was selected as one of 100 best attorneys in all of Maryland by Super Lawyers. Mr. Jezic also has a perfect 10/10 rating on AVVO.. He is a co-author of the widely respected book, Maryland Law of Confessions, first published in 2003 by Thompson/West and now in its nineteenth edition. Mr. Jezic’s book has been cited or quoted in ten reported opinions by Maryland’s highest and intermediate appellate courts.. Mr. Jezic has won many acquittals and dismissals in high-profile cases. For a small sample of these success stories, please see the link to recent news. In 2010, Mr. Jezic argued two significant criminal cases before Maryland’s highest court. In 2011, the State’s highest Court, on the same day, reversed two other complex cases handled by Mr. Jezic at the trial level, thereby giving Mr. Jezic’s clients a new chance at freedom. The State’s highest Court reversed yet another of Jezic’s cases in 2011, giving his client a new trial in a murder case. Mr. Jezic argued another case before Maryland’s top Court in June, 2012.. In 2010, prosecutors in two separate jurisdictions dismissed the cases against Mr. Jezic’s clients, after the jury in each case had heard Mr. Jezic’s winning cross-examination of the complaining witnesses. Remarkably, yet again in 2012, prosecutors dismissed all murder charges on the third day of a jury trial in Prince Georges County, after the Jezic team’s vigorous investigation and opening defense.. In 2017 Mr. Jezic achieved success for a client in one of the highest profile cases in Montgomery County in decades - in the "Rockville High School Rape" case - guiding his client through a maelstrom of national media attention, including pejorative comments about his client from White House spokesman, Sean Spicer.  Contrary to all expectations and hype, all rape and sex offense charges against Mr. Jezic's client were completely dismissed (See article).. Mr. Jezic's most celebrated case is the successful defense of Gary James Smith, in the "Army-Ranger murder case" - another of the most high-profile cases in Montgomery County in the past several decades.  Mr. Smith was a Sergeant in the Army Rangers, having served in five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.  He was accused of murdering his fellow Army Ranger, a close friend and roommate in Gaithersburg.   After two lengthy trials, and two appellate reversals, Mr. Smith successfully ended his case with time served and unsupervised probation, eight years after the original arrest.  Mr. Smith now is a law clerk in the law offices of Jezic & Moyse, working on Mr. Jezic's various murder cases. (See many articles from 2006 to 2015, and see hour-long show about Gary Smith on Dr. Oz.).. In 2010 and 2011, Maryland & DC criminal attorney Andrew V. Jezic convinced judges in two separate cases to vacate his clients’ guilty pleas entered with another lawyer, whereby both clients would have been deported after serving lengthy prison sentences. In both cases, Mr. Jezic’s clients were eventually exonerated after jury trials and are now free of any threat of jail or deportation. In one of those cases in 2011, State v. Cuque, the jury acquitted Mr. Jezic’s client of all charges despite having viewed a videotaped confession by the client.. In 2014 Mr. Jezic was a featured speaker for the fourth year in a row at the Alan Goldstein criminal law lecture in Prince George’s County, the premier criminal law seminar for lawyers in Maryland. In 2010 Mr. Jezic was a featured speaker at the annual Law Day seminar in Montgomery County, and was asked to speak at a Cross-Examination Workshop for the Montgomery County Bar’s Criminal Law Section in October, 2008, as well as at the Office of the Public Defender’s state-wide Training Seminar in May, 2008.. Mr. Jezic was one of the featured presenters from 2006-2008 for “Back to Court Night,” a gathering of many of the Circuit and District Court judges and lawyers in Montgomery County. In 2001, he was a featured speaker at the annual convention for all Maryland prosecutors held in Ocean City. He has taught numerous seminars for detectives around the state including the criminal investigators school for the Maryland State Police. As a Maryland & dc criminal attorney Mr. Jezic has taught full semesters at the Law School of American University and also at Montgomery College.. He is the former co-Chair of the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Criminal Law Section. As Chair of the Maryland Hispanic Bar’s Judicial Interviewing Committee for eight years, he was responsible for interviewing all applicants in the state for any judicial vacancy, including the Court of Appeals, Maryland’s highest court. Mr. Jezic was appointed by two Governors from different parties in 2006 and 2007 to be one of five members to serve on the State Board of Elections in Annapolis.. Mr. Jezic is fluent in Spanish.. Please email Mr. Jezic at or call him in the office at.

Bruce Blaylock

Firm: Attorney at Law
4610 Elm Street , Bethesda , Maryland 20815
Practice Areas: Automobile Accidents, Civil , Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Products Liability, Wrongful Death, Personal Injury
Why I Devote My Law Practice To Helping People Who Get Hurt. My name is Bruce Blaylock, and I would like to tell you why my law practice is focused exclusively on helping people who get hurt.. My Background. I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and moved to New Orleans to attend college at Tulane University. While studying for my undergraduate degree, I became a certified Emergency Medical Technician and worked in the Emergency Room of Touro Hospital in New Orleans.. My Experience As An Emergency Medical Technician Working In A Hospital Emergency Room. As a technician in the Emergency Room, I repeatedly saw up close how random acts of carelessness could result in tremendous pain, loss, and even death, to innocent people. I saw how enormously unfair it is for someone to become badly injured – or even killed – through absolutely no fault of their own.. Why Working In The Emergency Room Made Me Want To Be A Lawyer. This experience in assisting with the emergency trauma care of seriously injured victims inspired me to become a lawyer. I wanted to help injury victims use the legal system to achieve justice. I wanted to help make sure that their voice gets heard.. What I Decided To Do Differently Than Other Personal Injury Lawyers. However, if I was going to be a personal injury lawyer, I wanted to do something that would set my law practice apart from the crowd. I did not like the reputation that a lot of personal injury lawyers had and I found their television commercials, billboards, and yellow pages advertisements distasteful.. The Promise I Made: I Would NEVER Advertise In The Media. As a result, when I started my law practice in 1983, I made a promise that I would never advertise in the media. That meant no television commercials, no tacky billboards, no yellow pages advertisements and no other media advertising that would ever be in any way associated with my practice.. Getting New Cases The Old Fashion Way. I was determined to build my law practice the old fashion – working hard on every case and relying completely on word of mouth referrals.. Why You Want To Know This. Building a law practice by word of mouth is a much harder thing to do than building a practice by advertising. It means that your next generation of clients is NOT going to come from someone seeing some slick advertisement somewhere. It means that your next generation of clients is going to come exclusively from how you perform on your current cases. If you do good work, your current clients will tell their friends and loved ones about you. If you don’t, they won’t.. The Result. I now have been practicing law for over 30 years and have a very healthy law practice. During that entire time, I have been helping injury victims obtain the best possible financial recovery for their individual situations.. My Background Interest In Medicine Has Served My Clients well. Additionally, my background interest in medicine has turned out to be a major asset for my clients. Why? Because the practice of law is all about communication – whether it is to a judge, a jury, an insurance adjuster or a client. My emergency room experience has given me the ability to communicate the specific medical components of each individual case into language which explains the mechanics of an injury as well as the impact it can have on a person’s quality of life. That is essential in obtaining justice for an injury victim.. If you or a loved one needs help, give me a call. Let us know about your situation by calling us toll free or by completing our online form.

Bradley Kelly

Firm: Bradley Lynn Kelly
6917 Rannoch Road , Bethesda , Maryland 20817
Practice Areas: Nursing Home Abuse, Litigation, Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Lawsuits & Disputes, Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect, Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect, Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
After leaving my position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia over twenty-seven years ago, I focused my legal practice on defending nursing home providers in malpractice lawsuits here in the D.C. area and across the country.  In doing so, I learned in great detail not only how those cases are prosecuted and defended, but also how plaintiff's counsel and providers evaluate them for settlement purposes.  My extensive experience in defending nursing home cases proved to be one of my strongest assets once I began representing plaintiffs in those cases, as I now routinely do.. My goal in litigating any case is to evaluate it as quickly as possible in order to determine whether it can be resolved early on in a manner that makes sense for both sides.  This approach promotes closure for all parties and reduces the often wasteful and unnecessary fees and costs involved in protracted litigation.  If early resolution of a case is not possible, I welcome the opportunity to try it to verdict before a jury or arbitration panel.  My most recent nursing home jury trial resulted in a satisfactory settlement for my client just prior to the closing arguments.  My most recent nursing home arbitration resulted in an award totally in my client's favor after opposing counsel steadfastly refused to engage in meaningful settlement discussions.. Given my strong belief in the benefits of early dispute resolution, I have completed the arbitration and mediation training programs sponsored by the American Health Lawyer's Association ("AHLA").  I served as an arbitrator in a Florida nursing home dispute this past spring and look forward to doing so again this fall.. Before I went to law school, I worked as house painter, a laborer on gas pipelines and concrete crews, a carpenter, and a roughneck on an oil rig.  I believe that that  background, together with my educational and professional experience, has helped me to appreciate and relate to clients and jurors from all walks of life.. Picking the right lawyer to represent you in a significant lawsuit may be one of the most important decisions that you will ever have to make.  For that reason, you should take the time to get to know your prospective counsel and to make sure that he or she is the best fit for you.  In order to assist you in that process, I offer free legal consultations.  Please do not hestitate to contact me at your convenience should you wish to discuss your case with me.

For the past ten years I have been advocating on behalf of injured victims and their families.  From birth injuries to brain injuries to wrongful death to nursing home claims, I have handled all types of medical malpractice and personal injury claims from intake to trial.  I have obtained millions of dollars in compensation on behalf of my clients.. As a female litigator, I have a unique understanding of the needs of my clients.  This is particularly true in cases involving women and children, such as cerebral palsy and birth injury cases.   This understanding of the law, and my clients needs, has allowed me to successfully handle these claims in a field dominated by my male peers.. As an attorney, it is important to be able to be a pitbull.  But sometimes, in this complex field of litigation, a more delicate touch is required.  I have the ability to access both qualities, in an effective manner, as the situation dictates.
