Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I graduated from the University of Michigan and then served in the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army,  I also graduated from the Defense Language Institute and worked at the Army's Freedom of Information Center in Washington D.C. Later I  graduated from Detroit College of Law, now known as Michigan State University College of Law, and began working at a respected law firm which specialized in civil litigation and trial work.
