Michael Schwarz is a sole practitioner in Santa Fe practicing primarily in the area of employment and civil rights law. In 2008, he received the State Bar’s Professionalism Award, the state bar’s highest award. In addition to writing the New Mexico Appellate Manual (second edition), he also authored several publications, some of which have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association. He served on West Publishing Editorial Advisory Board for ten years. Schwarz was past chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar and former president of the First Judicial District Bar Association. Schwarz served on the Rules of Professional Conduct Committee from 1990 through 2007 (chair 1999-2007). He is a member of the American Law Institute. He served as a consultative member for the Restatement (Third) on Employment and Labor Law and currently serves in that same capacity on the Principles of Government Ethics.
