I am a lifelong resident of Currituck County, North Carolina. I grew up working on my family's farm. I enjoy riding motorcycles and currently ride a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and plan to start doing some track days in the 2017 riding season. I am active in the shooting sports, especially long range competition and am a strong believer in our Second Amendment constitutional rights. As a result of that commitment, I became a member of the US Concealed Carry Association's Special Response Team in March of 2017. I am entirely committed to the defense of the US Constitution and equal protection under the laws and firmly believe that no matter what a person is accused of doing, that person deserves every opportunity to defend his or her freedom and reputation in our courts and enjoys inalienable rights that will be lost without a zealous and effective defense.

Laura, or Laurie to friends, focuses her practice on criminal defense, DWI, traffic/speeding violations and potentially capital murder trial work. After 8 years as a partner at Baker Billick, P.A. with her husband, Luke Baker and her good friend Amber Billick, Laurie decided to really focus on what she is passionate about: criminal trial work.. Laurie is member of the 2002 graduating class of Emory University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology. Laurie attended law school at Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and graduated in 2007. While in law school, Laurie quickly took a leadership role, by being elected as a student representative in the Student Bar Association, a Justice on the Honor Court, and Dean ("president") of the Delta Theta Phi Chapter at Campbell. In addition to excelling in leadership, Laurie also displayed early promise as a litigator while in law school. Laurie was invited in her second year of law school to be a member of one of Campbell's mock trial teams, an honor typically reserved exclusively for third year law students. Upon graduation, Laurie was inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers for her service to her alma mater and her having displayed excellence in the art of trial advocacy. While in law school Laurie also was asked to join one of Campbell's moot court teams and represented the school at the regional competition. Laurie was also an active member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity as well as being Dean for 2 years.. Born and raised in La Grange, Texas, Laura M. "Laurie" Baker is a native Texan who found herself in North Carolina in 2004 to attend law school. Luke and Laurie met in law school where they were members of the same law fraternity (Delta Theta Phi) and were partners on the same mock trial team. The Bakers married in November of 2008 and are the proud parents of their son, Garrett, and their daughter, Audrey.
