Our firm motto is "Comfort and Clarity During Difficulty Times" as we believe our clients are in the midst of emotional burdens and should not have to worry about whether the attorney is handling their matters. I have been a practicing divorce attorney for over 35 years and have limited my practice soley to matters involving family law.. As a wife and mother of four children, I have experience as it relates to families and the dynamics therein.. We work with all types of families including same sex relationships and believe that families are best when the parents can work towards a mediated settlement of custodial issues.. As a trial attorney, I have represented both mothers and fathers regularly and I have experience working in the child support court and the domestic violence courtroom.

Let’s get this out of the way right now – I’m a jock, a nerd, and a lawyer. None of that is mutually exclusive.. I have been involved in competitions great and small for most of my life. Softball, math bowl, 80’s trivia, and bicycling (in a way). I like competition. I love games. I get my fill of them . . . on my time. Like everyone who plays any game, I like to win. Like anyone who plays any game, I don’t like losing.. Competition is great, in the proper venue. Family Law is emphatically not the proper venue. Family law is about resolving, fixing, healing, being reasonable, and moving on.. I devote my practice to working with clients in family law matters, including premarital agreements, domestic partnership agreements, separation and property settlement agreements, qualified domestic relations orders, appeals, and litigation involving equitable distribution, alimony, child support, and child custody. I understand the financial and emotional vulnerabilities of my clients, and I use my experience with alternative dispute resolution to resolve many disputes without litigation. Said another way, "We stop smart people from getting screwed over in the divorce process.". I am the stepmother to a teenager. I personally know the struggles of blended families and how challenging ongoing custody and financial issues can be. In addition to my personal experiences, I have more than twenty years of family law experience. I have seen a lot and dealt with an array of family issues. I understand what you are going through.. When I’m not helping clients take things off our clients' plates and shouldering some of the stress for them, you can find me in all kinds of places, like the softball diamond, my garage gym, the local bookstore, sampling wine, traveling, and, yes, still kicking butt in 80’s trivia contests.

We usually start our firm bios with a little tidbit about the member and move on from there building a narrative.. We’re breaking the mold with Julianne B. Rothert.. We have to start with this: Julianne loves family law – she is completely, utterly, dedicated to every aspect of it and has been since law school.. What does it mean when Julianne loves something? This . . .. Julianne went to Clemson. She loves everything Clemson, especially the football team. How much? Enough to be in labor the night before a Clemson game (note: It was not a playoff game, or even against the top 25, just the regular, old ‘Saturday Clemson beat down of an almost defenseless opponent’ game) and still go to the game. Which she sat all the way through. We think she also probably sat through Dabo’s news conference as well but she won’t confirm or deny that.. Only then did she go to the hospital and give birth. She gives some, grudgingly, credit to her daughter for waiting so patiently.. That then is what Julianne brings to family law.. Here’s what you don’t get – Julianne will never “tell you what you want to hear. I’m not the person to come to if you want to be told only what you want to hear, I’m the person to come to if you want to get it straight. Ask me anything. I’m here for you.”. That's out of the way; here’s the rest.. Julianne started out as an accounting major at, well, you know where. After graduation she went straight to Campbell University School of Law where she not only excelled, she found her love of family law.. Julianne was certified as a specialist in family law by the North Carolina State Bar in 2008. In 2011 she was certified as a family financial mediator as well. She frequently serves as a mediator in family law cases, by now you should know how she feels about that. She’s also a Parenting Coordinator, which as you may know, takes the patience of Job and the wisdom of Solomon.
