Chris brought her mid-west ways with her to Oregon when she moved to Portland in 1989 after graduating from Valparaiso School of Law in northwest Indiana. An Illinois native ready for a new adventure, she began her career as a trial attorney while working for a sole practitioner who holds a state contract to defend persons charged with misdemeanor cases in East Multnomah County. Chris was tasked with managing the entire caseload and represented over 1000 clients in her four years as a defense attorney. In 1995 Chris began a 20-year tenure as a prosecutor with the Multnomah County District Attorneys Office.
