Jason L. Hughes is a native of Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1993. Jeffrey P. Biela was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois on October 11, 1975, where he lived until the age of 15. His family relocated to Reno, Nevada while he was in high school.
