In 2003 she was honored to address her graduating class at Dixie High School as the Valedictorian. Katie began attending Brigham Young University on an academic scholarship in 2003, graduating with her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology in 2005. During that time she was honored to have co-authored a scientific study, which was published in the BYU Journal of Psychology. In 2006, Katie began attending the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law on an academic scholarship. During law school, she served as a Literary Editor of the UMKC Law Review and as a staff editor of the school’s other journal, The Urban Lawyer. She was an active participant in the school’s Child and Family Services Clinic, which is a pro bono clinic serving low-income clients in need of legal assistance. She also competed with the school’s Moot Court team nationally. Katie graduated with her Juris Doctor in 2009, cum laude. Since 2009, Katie has been working as an attorney in Utah and Nevada, assisting clients with various legal matters. She has guided many clients through the bankruptcy process, representing debtors whose debts ranged from small debts to tens of millions of dollars of debt, and has also represented creditors in bankruptcy litigation. Katie has litigated matters in bankruptcy, probate, business, and civil claims, and has experience litigating in state and federal courts. Katie has represented many clients in probate, will contests, and guardianship actions, and has assisted many families in setting up their estate plans.
