I love working directly with people on issues most important to them - whether those are their family, loved ones, hard-earned assets and property, their business, or otherwise. Serving my clients allows me to make a difference in their lives, and that is the ultimate reward of my work in this profession. On any given day I get to assist in guiding clients through some of life's most troubling times and through some of life's most exciting new chapters. My goal in doing so is to facilitate the best possible resolution, while minimizing the tension and stress the legal process can sometimes bring with it. While no attorney can guarantee any specific resolution, I can assure my clients of the following: I will always listen with compassion, as I recognize how legal issues may interupt and even alter the lives of those involved; I will consistently and faithfully advocate for my client's position, and do all that I can to facilitate a resolution without undue emotional stress or unnecessary tactics; and, I will provide professional, competent and comprehensive services to each client, from beginning to end. I have called North Carolina home all my life. Raised in Asheboro, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied journalism and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. My passion to help others in tough circumstances drove me straight from college to law school, and I earned my law degree from Charlotte School of Law. I practice predominantly in Mecklenburg County and the surrounding areas. I focus my practice on guardianships, estate planning, estate administration, litigation, business formation, contract drafting and family law. Primarily on the litigation side, I handle cases involving incompetency, guardian of the person, guardian of the estate, separation, divorce, equitable distribution, alimony and post-separation support, child custody, child support, misdemeanors, traffic-related matters, and some civil litigation. I am committed to achieving my clients' goals outside of the courtroom as well. I handle various non-litigation matters, including tailoring and drafting estate plans (wills, trusts, power of attorney), probate matters, uncontested divorces, drafting separation agreements, business formations, and various contract review and drafting.
