Lee founded The Law Office of A. Lee Shaw, PLLC, to focus his practice on business law, healthcare policy and bioethics, and elder law. Lee also accepts a limited number of personal injury actions. Before practicing law, Lee enjoyed a long career as an insurance executive. As a veteran of the US Navy, Lee also understands the importance of service and the unique challenges veterans face working through the often complex world of the veterans' administration. As a father of two special needs children, Lee learned about special needs planning first hand, without having the benefit of legal education. Along the way, he learned how little information is readily available and how confusing special needs planning can be.. Lee completed his undergraduate education at Penn State, where he graduated with a 4.0-grade point average and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. After that, he completed a Master of Business Administration at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and then a Juris Doctor at the University of Louisville, where he graduated with honors. Lee was an active member of the academic community and served in various campus organization leadership positions.. Lee has served as a clerk for the Kentucky Court of Appeals and completed two internships with the Legal Aid Society. He also clerked for a small law firm. Upon graduation, Lee passed the Bar exam in both Indiana and Kentucky. He began his formal practice of law as an attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services. As a child services attorney, Lee was involved in litigating complex family law matters and administrative proceedings.. Lee is an active member of both the Indiana and Kentucky Bar Associations. He also holds membership in the Solo Practice, Wills Estates and Trusts Section, and Family Law Section of the Bar. Lee is also a member of the Kentucky Justice Association, Louisville Bar Association.. Lee is a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun and enjoys spending time with his children and granddaughter as they discover new things in his spare time. His family enjoys traveling both domestically and internationally and experiencing new cultures.

My prior experience working with special needs children provides a unique perspective in cases involving students with disabilities and special education law. My experience working first hand with differently abled people makes me a natural choice for supplemental needs planning. I am fluent in Spanish, allowing Shaw & Associates to provide service to a diverse population of Kentuckians.. I am a 2020 graduate of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, magna cum laude. Some of the awards I received during law school are the Leon Seidman Memorial Fund Award and Cali Awards in Lawyering Skills, Civil Procedure, and Environmental Law classes. I was also a First-Year Oral Advocacy Competition Top 8 Finalist. I was a member and Notes Editor of the University of Louisville Law Review, as well as an Academic Fellow through the Success Skills Group Leader Public Service Fellowship. Further, during law school, I interned with the Kentucky Innocence Project, worked with the Louisville Metro. Public Defender's Appellate Division through the Greenbaum Public Service Program Fellowship, and completed an externship for the Honorable Regina S. Edwards of the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.. Prior to law school, I graduated magna cum laude from Bellarmine University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Music Technology and Piano Pedagogy, as well as a minor in Spanish. I am an avid traveler, having studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador, visiting Machu Picchu during my time in South America, teaching English in Madrid, Spain, and exploring from Europe to Morocco.. I am admitted to practice law in Kentucky, and am seeking admission to Ohio.
