Antavius Mitriko Weems (born July 12, 1970-) is an American lawyer best known for representing high-profile individuals and celebrities. He serves, and has frequently appeared in a recurring role as the Braxton family Attorney on the WEtv show, “Braxton Family Values”.[1]. Antavius Weems, named one of the “Nations Best Advocates” and a “Super Lawyer”, is from Atlanta, Georgia. Antavius is the managing partner of The Weems Firm, PC, specializing in entertainment law and high profile civil litigation. Weems has built a reputable image in the Nation as an advocate for his clients, whether celebrity or not.. Antavius Weems was born on July 12, 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia. Weems is the first born, and his mother was a single parent, raising him and his younger siblings in the infamous Atlanta housing project, Carver Homes. Weems was a student at T.H. Slater Elementary School, as well as King Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia. At age 15, Weems' family moved to the Allen Temple Apartments in Atlanta, Georgia, where he first became involved in the entertainment business by co-managing a dance group dubbed, Too Crucial.. Weems is an Atlanta native, having graduated from G. W. Carver High School located in Southeast Atlanta. Antavius Weems earned his B.A. from Clark Atlanta University in 1995 and also earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from the Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social work at Clark Atlanta University in 1998. A little known fact about Weems is that he first attended Morris Brown College before transferring to Clark Atlanta University. During college, Weems was a member of the Morris Brown College band, where he played trombone. Weems was also a member of the famed Clark Atlanta University Philharmonic Society choir.. Mr. Weems received his Juris Doctorate degree from Michigan State University College of Law in June 2001. Weems received numerous awards from the school, including the Wolverine Bar Association Award, the Judge Damon Keith Award from the Wolverine Bar Association, and the Lansing Black Lawyers Scholarship. Antavius was also a member of the ATLA Civil Trial Advocacy Moot Court Board.. While a student at Michigan State University School of Law, Mr. Weems served as the President of the Wolverine Student Bar Association/Black Law Student Association. In his term as President, he was very instrumental in re-establishing the connection with African American alumni of the school after the school moved from Detroit to East Lansing, by beginning the African American Alumni reception to honor alumni of the school.. It remains one of the more popular events for the law school. Mr. Weems also spearheaded a very successful fund-raiser, dubbed "Rumble in the Jungle," wherein Law Professors competed against each other in a "moot-court" style competition that was judged by students. After his presidency, Mr. Weems went on to be elected as Vice Chair of the Midwest Region of the National Black Law Students Association, which is the largest region for the organization.. Before being a Lawyer, Antavius was a Therapist, providing clinical Social Work to families and children.. Antavius Weems started his legal career with the City of Atlanta, representing the City in criminal preliminary hearings and trials. Mr. Weems also served as the liaison from the City Solicitor to the State Legislature, focusing on legislation that impacts the City's legal standing in the criminal area.. Antavius Weems then became an attorney with Fulton County, Georgia working in the Juvenile Court Office of Child Advocate Attorney focusing in the area of deprivation and neglect, representing the "best interest" of the children that came before the court.. Antavius M. Weems, is now the managing partner of The Weems Firm, P.C., a premier full service law firm in downtown Atlanta, which focuses on Civil Litigation, Real Estate, Entertainment/Sports, Corporate Reconstruction and Family Law.. Weems is very active in the Georgia Bar; He has served on the Board of Directors for the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, as Co-Chair of the YLD Judicial Liaison Committee of the State Bar of Georgia, Co-Chair of the Aspiring Youth Program of the State Bar, Co-Chair of the Judicial Liaison committee of the YLD/State Bar, as well as a Vice President of Gate City Bar Association, and member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Minorities in the Profession Committee of the YLD section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Atlanta Bar Association.. Weems made history when he served as the youngest and ninth President of the Georgia Alliance of African American Attorneys-a statewide Bar Association for minority Lawyers in Georgia. He is also Board President of Keeping My Kids, Inc, and serves on the Board of People TV Atlanta.. Antavius Weems is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
