She was admitted to practice law in Colorado in June of 2020, and she still maintains her license to practice law in Texas. Before pursuing her law degree, Ashlee graduated from the University of North Texas in 2003 with a B.A. in Philosophy. Having a passion for the protection of the environment, she pursued graduate work in Environmental Ethics from 2004-2006..
