Kurt completed his Juris Doctorate at the J. Reuben Clark, School of Law in 2016.. While in law school, Kurt served as an editor of the Brigham Young University Law Review, President of Phi Delta Phi, and President of the Trial Advocacy Team. Kurt also had the opportunity to compete in several Moot Court and Trial Advocacy competitions across the country. Due to his participation in the local and legal community, he was awarded the Faculty Award for Meritorious Achievement and Distinguished Service and the Public Interest Service Award.Following his graduation from law school, Kurt was an attorney at the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center representing people that were wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit. He then worked for two of Utah’s largest personal injury law firms, Robert J. DeBry and Associates and Craig Swapp and Associates, where he litigated and worked with personal injury clients for years..
