Practicing criminal law is the best thing I've done in a long and varied career.  It gives true meaning to my life and to all things I value greatly: the protection of ordinary people against the enormous power of the government, which can take away our liberty, our freedom and even our lives.  A felony conviction in this country stays with you forever.  You can't vote or own a weapon, if you are convicted of a crime, unless your rights are restored by a Court, after you have completed your sentence.. For the rest of your life you will have problems finding a job, housing, some benefits will be taken away from you, such as Veteran's benefits, for example.  You will have to admit you've been convicted for the rest of your life as well..
