Across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, Brett provides counsel and advice to clients on a wide variety of aviation-related claims and insurance issues. In his practice, Brett helps commercial airlines, helicopter and floatplane operators, Part 91 and Part 135 operators, municipalities and airport operators navigate complex disputes, including civil litigation and investigations. Brett’s experience ranges from helping airline clients resolve passenger claims involving in-flight injuries, discrimination and accommodation claims, and other tort claims related to operations above and below the wing, to defending aircraft and helicopter operators and owners after accidents. Brett frequently litigates cases involving federal preemption issues, the Airline Deregulation Act, Air Carrier Access Act, Montreal Convention, and other Federal Aviation Regulations.. In addition to Brett’s aviation practice, he works closely with small businesses and individuals to help resolve contract disputes and provide advice on non-disclosure and non-compete agreements. He also represents his clients in litigating insurance coverage involving liability coverage, property damage, business interruption, and insurance bad faith. He also defends product manufacturers against design defect, manufacturing defect, and other product liability claims.. Prior to going into private practice, Brett served two and a half years at the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. As an Assistant Attorney General, he represented the State of Washington in trial and appellate proceedings involving abused and neglected children.
