David D. Mouery, “Dave,” is an Ohio native who decided to move to Florida after the “Blizzard of ’78” to escape the cold Midwest winters. He has over 40 years of experience in the film, television and music businesses on both the production and legal sides. Dave is a graduate from the Ohio State University with a BA in Radio and Television Communication. Following graduation from OSU, he moved to Florida and worked for 18 years in the film and television production departments of the Walt Disney Company. While at Disney, he managed and oversaw various production and technical departments including, television audio, film sound, film and television camera, post-production and the recording studio. Dave also participated in the filming and taping of programs associated with the opening of Euro Disneyland.. Some of Dave’s many television and film production credits include: “The New Mickey Mouse Club,” “Walt Disney’s Very Merry Christmas Parade,” “Walt Disney’s Happy Easter Parade,” “MTV’s Remote Control,” “Walt Disney’s Fourth of July Spectacular,” “Splash II,” “ The New Adventures of Tarzan,” “Divorce Court,” “Star Search,” “Amateur Hour,” “Dick Clark’s Happy New Year Special,” “Full House,” “Honey I Blew Up The Kids,” “Thunder In Paradise,” “That’s My Dog,” ”BET’s” “St. Lucia Jazz Fest,” and “Teen Win, Lose, or Draw.”. After 18 wonderful and memorable years with Disney, Dave decided to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an attorney and went to law school to earn his juris doctor degree. While attending the Barry University School of Law, he worked as a law clerk for a law firm in Orlando, Florida, was the Managing Editor of the Barry Law Review, and published a legal note entitled Trademark Law and the Bottom Line—Coke Is It! He graduated with honors from law school in 2002.. Following law school, Dave became a staff attorney for the Honorable Earle W. Peterson of the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeals in Daytona Beach Florida, the first Florida DCA law clerk ever from his law school. After two years with Judge Peterson at the Fifth DCA, he practiced and still practices law in the entertainment, intellectual property and corporate law areas representing production companies, recording artists, actors and actresses, internet companies and entertainment corporations. Dave served as the entertainment attorney for “Gina D’s Kids Club” a children’s television show which currently airs on Trinity Broadcasting Network worldwide.. Dave also spent six years as an Assistant Dean at Barry University School of Law where he taught legal writing for the bar exam. He currently teaches Entertainment Business Law, Entertainment Business Ethics, Intellectual Property, and Television and Digital Network Management classes for the Los Angeles Film School.. Dave is the author of the book, “Essay Writing for the Florida Bar Exam” and tutors students around the country taking bar exams.. Currently, Dave focuses his practice on trademark, copyright, and entertainment law. He is also working on several entertainment projects and writing a book on film and television production at the Walt Disney Company in the 80’s and 90’s.. Dave and Gina, his wife of 26 years, are the proud parents of two talented children, Francesca and David. The family loves to travel together, especially cruising. The family are members of Annunciation Catholic Church. In his personal time, Dave loves to write, play golf, attend his daughter’s musical theater productions, and is an avid Ohio State Football fan.. Dave is a member of the Florida Bar and admitted to practice in Florida and the United States Middle District in Florida as well as the United States Supreme Court.
