Michael Amadeo Mazzoni Jr., Esq., works with the law firm Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer & Jensen in the firm's Fresno office, in the practice of Workers' Compensation Law. There, Mike represents insurance companies, permissibly self-insured employers, governmental entities and their third party adjusting agencies in all aspects of Workers Compensation litigation, including 132a discrimination claims and Serious & Willful Misconfuct claims. In addition to this, he also is able to handle Cal OSHA matters as well, and handles some employment law claims on behalf of employers, and has appeared at both the California Labor Commisson, as well as California Superior Courts in litigating these issues.. Mike is a graduate magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. There, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication, focusing on the theory of rhetoric and debate, taking parliamentary, world policy, and advanced forensics debate courses, as well as studying Spanish Latin American studies, and philosphy. During Mike's time at LMU, he had the opportunity to study abroad in both Madrid, Spain during the summer of 2006 and Guadalajara, Mexico for the fall semester in 2007. There, he finished his general education courses, which were taught entirely in Spanish.. After graduating from LMU, Mike went on to San Joaquin College of Law in Fresno. There, he was active in the Student Bar Association and New American Legal Clinic [aiding in immigration legal issues], and received honors in Criminal Law & Procedure. He was also selected in 2013 as the recipient of the Ernest S. Kinney scholarship winner, given to the student who showed the most promise as a young trial lawyer. Mike graduated in 2013 from SJCL and went on to pass the California Bar Exam in his first attempt in July of 2013. Mike was admitted to the California State Bar thereafter. In addition to Mike's work in the area of Workers Compensation, he has vast experience in criminal law matters as well. Mike was formerly both an intern at the Fresno County District Attorney's office, as well a the sole law clerk for Hammerschmidt Broughton Law Corporation, one of the premier criminal defense firms in the Central San Joaquin Valley. There, Mike helped people with the stressful experience of having to navigate through the criminal justice system, and making sure their rights were protected during the judicial process. He was responsible for much of the research and motion writing, as well as obtaning invaluable courtroom experience. Prior to working at Hammerschmidt Broughton, Mike was an extern judge's clerk for Madera County Superior Court Judges Ernest J. LiCasi (former Madera County DA), Joseph A. Soldoni, and Dale Blea, aiding in research, writing of orders/findings, and assisting the judges with any and all other legal issues.. Mike also has done work with the New American Legal Clinic at San Joaquin College of Law, a free immigration law service that the school provides to indigent immigrants, aiding them in the process of naturalization, petitions for alien relatives to obtain visas, permanent residency applications, and asylum filings. Previous to this, he worked with an immigration consultant, who was a former head of the Immigration & Naturalization Service office in Fresno, assisting with all aspects of immigration law, including filing USCIS forms, drafting pleadings, and translation of documents, as well as conducting client interviews in Spanish.. As a professional in the legal field, Mike strives everyday to maintain a high level of competency in practice. Mike uses his extensive education, skills, experience, creativity, and thoroughness in obtaining favorable results for current clients, while at the same time, maintaining high ethical standards. Mike maintains a high level of integrity, professionalism, and respect for others while practicing in the legal profession. In addition to his professional career, Mike is an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and European Football/Soccer fan. He enjoys time with his wife Mina and children Gian & Zahra, and loves to travel. Mike has traveled to Mexico [spent 8 months living in Guadalajara], Canada, Japan [was chosen on an all-star baseball team to play Japanese teams], Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Spain [studied in Madrid for 4 months], Portugal, Sweden, and all over the United States. He hopes to travel more with his family in the future. In Mike's spare time, he is an avid reader of historical non-fiction books, and enagages in reasearch on numerous historical eras, most notably, the Spanish conquest of America, and Italian Immigration to the United States. Mike also speaks Spanish.
