Prior to her time in the District Attorney’s office, Karen worked with Sanctuary for Families, the leading nonprofit in New York State dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims, sex trafficking victims, and their children. During her time with Sanctuary, she tried 15 to 20 family court matters to verdict.. In August of 2012, Karen attended the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) National Trial College at Harvard Law School, an interactive week-long trial school taught by accomplished trial lawyers from all parts of the country. While in law school, Karen was a member of the executive board for the Women’s Law Journal and competed for the school's national team.. Karen is fluent in Spanish.
