I focus on representing clients in accident cases, workers’ compensation claims, civil rights claims, and the occasional family law matter.  My office is located in Southern Cook County, and my practice centers on Cook County and the Northern District of Illinois, although I do work in DuPage, Kane, and other counties as required. I handle both large and small cases and I give the “big firm experience” with “small town care.”. In 2001, I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. Following my undergraduate studies, I attended the DePaul College of Law in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 2004. I took the July 2004 bar examination for Illinois, passed, and was sworn in as an attorney in October of the same year. I am a member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  I have been appointed to the bar or by way of pro hac vice in numerous United States District Courts in Midwestern states.. After spending my first five years in practice learning from mentors at firms specializing in Plaintiff’s and Defendant’s cases, I opened The Gill Law Firm in 2009. My practice has been dedicated to the representation of accident victims, workers’ compensation claims, and civil rights claims, as well as some family law matters.. For the years of 2014 and 2015, I worked in the law firm of Hoey & Farina, PC as a litigating attorney while continuing to represent my clients in their claims. Hoey & Farina is a nationally recognized firm in the field of Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims on behalf of injured railroad workers.  (FELA claims are the sole avenue for recovery for railroad workers who have sustained injury due to railroad negligence).  In the start of 2016, having learned a new skill set and broadened my horizons, I resumed working for myself and re-opened The Gill Law Firm.. I have tried dozens of cases to jury verdict and through bench trials. I have handled all aspects of litigation, appeals, and motion practice on cases involving automobile accidents, workers’ compensation actions, third-party liability pertaining to work accidents, civil rights violations, prison conditions cases, and premises liability actions. I have settled over 95% of my cases favorably through negotiations and pretrial conferences. I am an aggressive trial attorney, yet I make sure that I remain humble and agreeable to all clients, other attorneys, and judges.. A professional recipe of being balanced and vigilant achieves the best results for my clients. My work ethic, preparation, and demeanor most often result in claims agents or Defendants settling my cases without the risk and expense of trial. My longest trial involved testimony and argument extending in excess of three weeks.. I make a point to be the most accessible attorney that I can be for my clients. Every client has access to my personal cell phone number. I do my very best to return calls promptly. It is my plan to keep my firm small and tightly managed so that I can provide you and your case with the attention you deserve..
