He has successfully handled hundreds of cases representing parties in wrongful death and injuries from truck wrecks, car crashes, death and injuries from drunk driver collisions, dangerous products, premises liability, even actions against out of control bounty hunters, and other wrongful acts of companies and individuals. Since his practice often involves medical issues, it includes the related claims from those injuries including Social Security disability and disability insurance claims.. He has experience representing individuals and businesses in litigation involving companies and municipalities, established and advised employee owned companies, been involved in class action cases, and abusive debt collection cases, and cases concerning the failure of insurance companies to protect their insured. He has also been involved in pension and ERISA issues including establishing and administering pension plans, representing claimants in disability claims against ERISA and insurance policies, as well as collective bargaining contracts, employer self insurance, arbitration and individual rights matters.. Rick is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1979. From 1978-1981 he was a law clerk for the Honorable Louis Lombardo on the Circuit Court of Jackson County. Following his clerkship he entered private practice with his father’s firm. Rick has presented at seminars on litigation of car wrecks, insurance claims, and worker’s compensation matters to other attorneys and insurers.. Rick is admitted to practice law in the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Districts of Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado, the Federal District Courts for the Western District of Missouri, the District of Kansas, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He has over 30 years of experience.. Rick and Gwen have 3 children, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law as well as a canine ‘child’. He is a member of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection where he currently volunteers on the video production team. Rick enjoys sailing and mountain sports.
