Steve Aggergaard practices in the areas of commercial and nonprofit litigation, professional liability, intellectual property litigation, and appellate law.  His clients include businesses, individuals, educators, churches, and persons in the media ranging from bloggers to professional publishers.  Steve is experienced in all phases of litigation -- from obtaining temporary restraining orders to cross-examination at trial.  At the appellate level, he practices regularly in the Minnesota Court of Appeals and has co-authored several briefs to the Minnesota Supreme Court in high-profile and high-stakes matters. A former newspaper journalist of 15 years, Steve writes and advises on a variety of First Amendment-related issues, and he remains active as a media adviser, educator, and lecturer.. Steve received his law degree cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.  He was a law clerk for the Honorable Sam Hanson of the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Honorable Paul Magnuson of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.  Steve also holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis.. He is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, and Defense Research Institute.  Since 2005, he has served on the MSBA’s Publications Committee, which oversees publication of Bench & Bar, the magazine distributed to attorneys across Minnesota.. Steve teaches journalism part-time at Augsburg College and has been a tenor with the VocalEssence Chorus since 2004.
