A significant portion of my practice involves advising clients on matters involving intellectual property protection, licensing and transferring, electronic contracting, social media, data security regulation and compliance, software development and licensing, SaaS transactions, online sweepstakes and contests, consumer privacy, web site development, maintenance and hosting, co-branding, strategic alliances, data protection and electronic communications in the workplace. In the social media arena, my practice includes advising clients on the development and implementation of social media guidelines and compliance programs associated with uses of social media, negotiating, securing and clearing intellectual property rights, drafting and negotiating agreements relating to advertising, marketing and other promotional activities conducted across various multimedia platforms, and otherwise facilitating and advancing marketing strategies and campaigns involving social media.My practice also includes litigation involving non-competition agreements, theft of trade secrets, unfair and deceptive business practices, and trademark and copyright infringement in both state and federal courts. I also practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.I lecture and write regularly on intellectual property, Internet, e-commerce, electronic communications, social media and related topics.I am admitted to practice in Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
