About Steve Troutman
Mr. Troutman received his first degree from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (with special distinction) in 1972. Prior to attending law school, Steve worked for many years in various senior management and engineering positions.. Steve received his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in the month of May 1999, graduating as Valedictorian of a class of 1999. He attended law school at night, while maintaining full-time employment. While he was in law school, Mr. Troutman also became a Teaching Assistant for Legal Authorities, he was on staff for the Tulsa Law Journal, and he was a member of legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi.. Mr. Troutman received numerous honors and awards from the University of Tulsa’s school of Law, including the Martin Fellows Smith Award; the Gable & Gotwals Outstanding Third-Year and Second-Year Student awards; the Judge W. Lee Johnson Award; the West Group Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award; the F.M. Rowell, Sr. Award for Property II; the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence; the Riggs, Abney award for Torts; the Order of the Curule Chair; and numerous CALI awards as the outstanding student in various classes.. Mr. Troutman began working on Tulsa Social Security disability cases with Mrs. Troutman in May of 1998, while he was still in law school. He was admitted to practice law by the Bar of the State of Oklahoma in September of 1999, and later by the Bar of the State of Kansas in July of 2000. He is currently admitted to practice before the all of the federal courts in Oklahoma, Kansas, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, he teaches Contracts as an adjunct instructor at Tulsa Community College. He has also served as a CLE instructor at several seminars dealing with Social Security disability, including conferences for the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).. Steve Troutman primarily limits his practice to representation of claimants before the Social Security Administration and to federal court appellate advocacy of Social Security claims. However, he sometimes also represents clients in claims against disability insurance companies. He is a sustaining member of NOSSCR and has attended every NOSSCR conference since he began practicing law.
