While in law school, Mr. McKinnon taught a course on the small claims court system in conjunction with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and was recognized with the “Outstanding Student Teacher” award. He also spent a summer working for the Utah Division of Securities learning the ins and outs of securities compliance and investigations at the state level. Mr. McKinnon also represented UNLV at the Tulane NFL Negotiating Competition where he learned valuable negotiating skills.. Before joining Marquis Aurbach, Mr. McKinnon worked as a practicing attorney at a well-known civil litigation law firm, specializing in complex commercial litigation, employment contract disputes, and landlord tenant law.. Prior to law school, Mr. McKinnon studied at Utah State University, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. He was also a sportswriter for the school newspaper, the Utah Statesman.. When not practicing law, Mr. McKinnon spends his time with his wife, Sarah, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
