Milica Filipovic graduated from University of Michigan-Dearborn with a dual major in Criminal Justice and Political Science and a minor in Spanish Studies. She earned her Juris Doctorate at Wayne State University Law School, where she served as student attorney for the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic, won the Arthur Neef Competition for the Student Trial Advocacy Program, and co-wrote the nation’s highest scoring brief in Jessup International Moot Court.. After serving as an intern in the Office of Special Counsel working on Whistleblower Retaliation, as well as for Chief Judge Gerald Rosen, she started her career as an immigration and criminal defense attorney at a Metro Detroit law firm, helping to establish a personal injury subspecialty there.. She joined Fieger Law in July, 2018 with the goal of making a difference for clients and being a voice for them that they otherwise don’t have.. Milica was selected by Super Lawyers as a 2018 Michigan Rising Star, and was awarded the certificate of Exceptional Achievement by the Criminal Defense of Attorneys of Michigan. In 2017, she received the AVVO Client’s Choice Award.. The daughter of Montenegrin immigrants, she speaks Spanish, Serbo-Croatian, Bosnian and Macedonian. In her free time she enjoys reading, blogging and spending time with family.
