Mr. DeVere graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Sciences, cum laude, in 1987 and from Dickinson School of Law, with a Juris Doctorate in 1993. He was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania in 1993, before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in 1993, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1996, and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 1997. Mr. DeVere was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Civil Practice Award while in law school.. He joined the law firm of Metzger, Wickersham, Knauss & Erb, P.C. in 1993 where he practices in personal injury law including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and products liability. Prior to joining Metzger Wickersham, Mr. DeVere served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kevin A. Hess of the Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania from 1991 to 1993.. In addition to membership in the Dauphin County Bar Association, Mr. DeVere is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice. Mr. DeVere is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which membership is “limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of one million dollars or more.”. Mr. DeVere served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1987 to 1993 and attained the rank of Captain in the Military Police Corps.
