He began working at GEICO as a claims adjuster in 1989 and continued to work full time as a claims adjuster at GEICO until 1994. Doug Goyen attended the University of Texas at Dallas, attending night classes, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994 - while working full-time with GEICO. In 1994 Doug Goyen began studying the law at SMU Law School, and graduated in 1997. He worked part-time as a claims adjuster while attending SMU Law School. Doug Goyen passed the Texas Bar Exam in late 1997 on his first attempt, and has held a law license in the State of Texas since that time.
