Maureen was raised in Geneva, New York. At the end of her junior year in high school, she enrolled in the early admissions program at a nearby community college. After graduation, she took a seven-year hiatus to begin a family. In 1983, the untimely death of a childhood friend inspired her to return to college. “What was planned to be a two-year commitment turned into a seven-year adventure.
