Kent E. I went to law school to help make people's lives better and practicing family law has been one of the most rewarding ways in which to do that.  Divorce and child custody issues involve some of the most emotionally charged and traumatic events people encounter.  I enjoy (for the most part) helping folks see the light at the end of the tunnel and helping them find ways to make the best of an otherwise terrible time in their lives.. While the "law" certainly is a critical part of practicing family law, my own personal experience during my divorce and subsequent custody battles (the divorce took four years to obtain and the custody battles took place about every two years for well over a decade) give me ground level experience about the emotional trauma that goes along with these types of cases.  I have to say that I finally got wise and married my best friend from high school and have been happily married to him for almost 20 years.  We have lots of kids (only a few of which I actually birthed - the rest  came over to eat dinner and never really left) and a very firm belief that it is possible to create your own family, regardless of blood ties.  (We were the "Blind Side" long before the movie came out, just for the record.). On the other hand, I served as General Counsel for a multinational corporation prior to practicing family law, so I have a strong business background and understand where the money can sometimes go in family owned businesses.  I can comfortably track assests and income streams from many sources and understand how division of marital busineses can alter the business valuations.. Going to court is my work version of chocolate.  I absolutely love it and it has the added benefit of being fat free.

I began practicing family law while still a student in Seton Hall University Law School in New Jersey and found that I loved it. Family law is challenging and each case is very different from the next and presents its own unique issues and strategy. From that first divorce in law school, I have continued to practice family and divorce law exclusively.

Debra A. Robinson concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, elder law, asset protection and business law. Debbie prepares wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives and prenuptial agreements. She forms business entities including corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, and prepares business documents such as buy sell agreements and operating agreements. Debbie assists clients with probate and trust administration, as well as guardianships for minors and incapacitated adults. She also provides guidance on Medicaid planning and veterans’ benefits.. Debbie earned her bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University, cum laude, in 1973, and her law degree from The University of Chicago Law School in 1979. Debbie has been practicing law in the metropolitan Atlanta area since 1985.. Debbie’s husband died of cancer at the age of 39, leaving her with two young children to raise alone. Despite her law degree and several years of working in a law firm, she was not prepared for the legal and financial issues she faced as a widow. It was through this personal experience that she found her life’s purpose – to become a skilled estate planning and elder law attorney, and use her expertise to assist her clients to preserve their assets and protect their families in the event of incapacity or death.. Debbie is a member of the Fiduciary and Elder Law Sections of the State Bar of Georgia, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Real Property and Probate Section of the American Bar Association. She is a former board member of the North Fulton Bar Association.. Debbie is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and elder law issues both to professional and community groups.. Debbie is accredited by the Veteran’s Administration.
