Whether you are a company who has been sued in federal or state court in Virginia or DC or are looking to pursue an action against another company, Tom Urban is on your side, with aggressive, personalized service.  Over the past 25 years, Tom has represented large corporations such as USAA, Novartis Pharmaceuticals and GE Aircraft Engines, but has also fought big multinational conglomerates such as Monsanto, Dow Chemical, Union Carbide, American Airlines, and Hewlett-Packard.  No matter how big or small the opponent, Tom Urban is available to his clients 24/7.. DISCLAIMER - CASE RESULTS DEPEND ON A VARIETY OF FACTORS UNIQUE TO EACH CASE. CASE RESULTS DO NOT GUARANTEE OR PREDICT A SIMILAR RESULT IN ANY CASE UNDERTAKEN BY A LAWYER.. Tom Urban has represented numerous large corporations, small business owners, and even individuals in disputes in federal local courts in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia, aggressively ensuring that they obtain a just result against their adversaries.  Tom has especially assisted many parties in the United States Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, ascting as both lead and local counsel in that court.. For almost 10 years, Mr. Urban litigated against the Monsanto Company and its teams of lawyers to try to make them pay fair compensation for contaminating a town in West Virginia with toxic doxins, taking the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Tom Urban can bring that same dedication to assist you in defending or bringing a lawsuit against someone with whom you have a dispute, whether they are a huge corporation, a smaller business, or even a business partner.. Tom successfully argued a complex procedural property case before the Supreme Court of Virginia, obtaining a complete reversal of the major portion of a decision from a trial court.  In doing so, he defeated an established insurance firm with deep ties in Virginia.. Similarly, Tom Urban won a verdict in Fairfax County Circuit Court in a case where his client was awarded approximately $850,000 in compensatory damages, attorneys fees, and punitive damages.  Mr. Urban, the sole counsel for plaintiff in that case, convinced the jury to find the defendant liable for fraud and pierced the corporate veil between the defendant and the company that he used to commit fraud.  Based on information developed during that case that Urban provided to the FBI, the defendant in that case is serving time in a federal prison.. Mr. Urban's practice has included a wide variety of civil litigation, previously including matters involving computer crimes and the information superhighway, as well as complex commercial and products liability cases.  Formerly an attorney with the law firms of Williams & Connolly and King & Spalding, Mr. Urban has engaged in high-stakes litigation in all parts of the United States.. Court of Appeals, filing an opposition to a petition for certiorari in a highly publicized case for the Southern Poverty Law Center in the U.S. Supreme Court, and representing TransAfrica protestors in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.Mr. Urban received his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985 and, in 1990, graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, having served as associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and being elected to the Order of the Coif.  He clerked for Judge Carolyn D. My clients have sent me into courtrooms and board rooms all over the State of Texas and Oklahoma. For me, very few things compare to the excitement of being in front of a judge and jury. Outside of the courtroom, I help clients manage risk and take advantage of opportunities to grow their business. If I have learned one thing in my career it is that the person who has the best quality and quantity of information available to them has the best chance of being successful.  I don’t churn files – instead, I become part of my client’s bottom line success.  I don’t exacerbate conflict – instead, I take challenges head on, and try to reach the best solution for my clients from day one with an end goal in mind.  We don’t have a rigid fee structure – instead, we work within a budgetary, contingent, or flat fee model that allows us to effectively use risk and reward analysis in the management of files. It also helps that we are passionate lawyers who do good work.. From the firm bio:.
