Ranked by Benchmark as one of the top 250 female litigators in the United States as well as a litigation star in New York, Ms. Maher has tried, argued, and litigated cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States.  She has also been involved in numerous forms of alternative dispute resolution.  Ms. Maher has extensive experience handling complex antitrust, commercial, and other legal disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants. For over a decade she has been providing strategic business advice to NASCAR, and handling multi-billion-dollar litigation on its behalf.  She has also represented the co-founder of AriZona Iced Tea in complex commercial litigation involving contractual, injunctive, and dissolution claims leading to a recovery of nearly $1 billion for the client.  Ms. Maher is located in the Firm’s Armonk office.

Mr. Furrer’s practice focuses on the defense of claims for property damage and the recovery of cleanup costs associated with petroleum spills at service stations, terminals and pipelines as well as counseling clients to assist them in reducing their environmental liability. It also focuses on the representation and counseling of corporate clients in franchisee disputes under the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act and in all other aspects of the petroleum industry.. Mr. Furrer also counsels clients on reducing the environmental exposure associated with the operation of retail service stations and assists clients on various commercial matters. He has been a guest lecturer at several Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers Association of America (SIGMA) meetings and recently published an article in The New York Environmental Lawyer entitled Pre-Emptive Measures to Reduce Environmental Exposure. Mr. Furrer served as Councilmen for the Town of Mount Pleasant from 1993 until 2005.

I concentrate primarily in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate and Trust Litigation, Elder Law and Medicaid Planning, Asset Protection, Estates and Trusts Administration, and Special Needs Planning.. I am admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.  I am a member of the New York State Bar Association, where I serve on the Executive Committee of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section and am Co-Chair of the Estates, Trusts and Tax Issues Committee.  I am also a Chair of the Elder Law Section of the New York County Lawyers' Association.. I am a legal commentator on Trusts & Estates and Elder Law matters for TruTV, Court TV, CNN Headline News, and The CBS Early Show.  I was featured in the HBO Documentary "Bobby Fischer Against the World:  Fight for the Fischer Estate".. I am also a frequent lecturer for various financial institutions, civic groups, and community organizations, and am often presented by the New York State Bar Association as a community educator on various topics.
