Bel Fuse, Inc. et al., 2010 WL 2464811 (N.D.Cal. 2010).  Successfully obtained dismissal of U.S. District Court case following multiple mediations.. ·        Electronics Patent Litigation - Defended subsidiary of publicly-traded company against patent infringement claims filed by global competitor in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia concerning flicker compensation systems for flat panel displays. Successfully conducted negotiations and obtained dismissal of U.S. District Court case.. ·        Retail Patent Infringement Litigation - Counsel to national retailers (restaurant chain, electronics retail store, office supply retail store) defending against patent infringement claims made by Non-Practicing Entity (NPE or patent troll) concerning financial transaction systems. Successfully negotiated settlement agreements and obtained dismissals of U.S. District Court case(s).. ·        Retail Copyright Infringement Litigation - Defended national department store retailer and product supplier against allegations of infringing copyright and engaging in unfair competition.  Obtained dismissal of allegations.. ·        Manufacturing Unfair Competition Litigation - Defended North American vehicle parts manufacturer against competitor's claims of unfair competition (trade dress), theft of trade secrets and unjust enrichment in Ohio state court.  Successfully narrowed issues in dispute through mediation, conducted further negotiations, and obtained dismissal.. ·        Nitrile Glove Patent Litigation - Defended multiple glove manufacturers against allegations of patent infringement before the International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.   Successfully negotiated settlement agreements resulting in terminations of investigations and dismissals of court claims.. ·        Construction/Copyright Litigation - Consulting expert to litigation counsel for hotel owner accused, in construction dispute, of infringing architect's copyright in breach of contract for use of architectural drawings and specification after architect was terminated for cause.  Obtained settlement.. ·        Non Profit IP Litigation - Defended 501(c)(3) organization against conversion and misappropriation of IP claims in trial, appellate and bankruptcy courts.  Obtained court-ordered dismissals following multiple efforts to mediate resolution. Mia Ilene-Beth Frieder is the author of two books which have been the subject of accredited seminars in Georgia and throughout the southeast including Alabama and Tennessee. Mia has been a featured speaker at Bridge the Gap, a required seminar for all new members of the Georgia Bar for over a decade, and spoken at the national level at the annual convention for the American Association for Justice on the topic of Failure to Diagnose Breast Cancer. In addition to her books, Mia has authored numerous articles which have been published nationally.. Mia has been active with the State Bar of Georgia, serving on the Executive Council of the Younger Lawyers Division for 1992-93, 1993-94, and founded the Lawyers in Practice committee for which she received an Award of Merit in 1992-93. Mia also served on the Communications Committee and was appointed by Senator Max Cleveland to serve on the Judicial Nominations Committee for the Northern District of Georgia.. Mia I. Melissa was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She moved to Atlanta to obtain her undergraduate education at Emory University. In her third year, she was accepted into Emory’s Goizueta School of Business and received her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2009. After graduation, she spent a year working for a Plaintiff’s firm specializing in workers’ compensation law, which furthered her desire to become a lawyer. Melissa attended law school at Georgia State University School of Law where she served as a member of Law Review and the Moot Court Board. She received her Juris Doctor Degree in 2013.. Melissa has spent the first ten years of her practice defending workers’ compensation claims in Georgia and Tennessee. Having sat on the opposite side of the courtroom for so many years, Melissa has gained key insight into how defendants attack valid injury claims. She hopes to draw on her experience to protect the rights of personal injury victims and ensure they receive the justice they deserve.. Melissa is currently a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of Tennessee, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.. She lives in Brookhaven with her husband, their two kids, Leo and Zoe, and their dog, Ollie. She comes from a large Filipino family who mostly reside in the southeast.
