I have 35 years experience in litigation of all types in State and Federal courts in Georgia. I strive to give each client personalized atttention.
I grew up in a small town called East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. After spending a semester at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and traveling some weeks after that through Europe, I graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelors Degree in Politics with a minor in Legal Studies.. After I received my Juris Doctor from Georgia State University, I went on to practice in various fields of law but in 2006 entered the ever changing world of immigration law and found I most enjoyed helping people achieve the American Dream and remain in this country through employment based immigration, family based immigration and some even through a positive result in a removal hearing.
I grew up between Brooklyn, New York and Long Island. I attended New York University on an academic scholarship as the first in my family to graduate from college. You can say I beat the odds.. After graduating from NYU, I moved to Atlanta in 2000 to pursue a career in IT with IBM. While working at IBM, I started a successful promotions company, as a side interest, that would teach me so much about people and Atlanta as a whole. Despite this success, I decided to pursue a lifelong goal of becoming an attorney. I graduated from Georgia State University College of Law at the top of my class. In my practice, I combine my understanding of my city (Atlanta) and the inherent toughness gained from my childhood neighborhood to provide zealous advocacy for my clients. As my legal career continues, I continue to be active in my community and hope to inspire the next generation of attorneys.
I focus my practice on real estate closings and community association law, specifically homeowners associations, condominium associations, and commercial associations, including mixed use, "green", and age-restricted community documents. I help homeowners, developers, lenders, and others in creating, interpreting, enforcing, and administering these documents, including compliance with the Georgia Condominium Act, the Georgia POA Act (particuarly in adopting its terms), and other statutes that may apply. As well, I assist in navigating the practicalities of running an association, including dealing with calling annual meetings, holding elections, or creating comitteess.. In 2013, Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. named me the head of its residential and construction closing practice group.. In addition, I have also mediated real-estate related disputes, with an emphasis on finding cost effective and realistic solutions. Using the insights I have learned through my representation of homeowners, lenders, developers, builders and association board members I am able to share perspectives that otherwise might not have been considered to bring parties closer together.. One of my toughest projects was to be part of the team, led by Thomas J. Andersen, responsible for negotiating and closing the purchase of the Beltline by one of our firm's clients in 2004 (Atlanta Business Chronicle’s "Deal of the Year 2004") and to remain involved with the continuing complex development issues that arose from the Beltline, including its sale to another development entity in late 2007 (the sale was listed in Atlanta Business Chronicle’s "Deal Makers" list, March 2008).
I focus on devising efficient, effective and creative solutions to complex legal problems. Whether dealing with transactions or litigation, I counsel my clients to assume very little and to be realistic in their plans and expectations. I further advise them that they must be honest with me in order to enable me to maximize my effectiveness in providing legal representation to them.
I first came to Atlanta to study chemical engineering at Georgia Tech. After working for a while in the consumer products research and development field, I decided it was time to change gears. I attended law school at night while continuing to work as an engineer, and have not looked back since. The engineer in me always gets a thrill out of analyzing complex situations and formulating thorough and thoughtful solutions, but what I enjoy most about the practice of law is getting to meet new people, hear their stories, and help them see their goals realized.
I enjoy practicing family law (many lawyers don't). I often present CLE seminars and always learn so much when I prepare my remarks.. I grew up in New Orleans (yes, I am a long suffering Saints fan whose suffering has ended) and have lived in Atlanta since I started law school at Emory in 1985.. What sets our firm apart from many, is how many resources we have to help you. In addition to 13 lawyers who all specialize in family law, we have 15 staff members including paralegals, law clerks and others and we maintain close relationships with many forensic accountants, psychologists and private investigators to ensure we can meet our clients' needs on a moment's notice.
I currently reside in California, but my law office and practice remain in Georgia. I am not licensed to practice law in California.

Initially I focused his practice on Intellectual Property Law, and more specifically, Patent Law prosecution. I am licensed to practice in all of the State and Superior Courts of Georgia, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. I am also admitted to the United States District Court, Northern District. In 2003 I realized that my “true calling” was in Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury and Civil Practice Litigation. During my legal career, I have worked both for the Defense side, representing large insurance companies, and as a Plaintiff’s Advocate, representing the individual’s rights. In 2007 I became the lead attorney for the DOVER Law Firm’s Workers’ Compensation Department as well as the firm’s Personal Injury Litigation Trial Team.In 2008 I joined Montlick & Associates Workers' Compensation Department and a little later joined the firm's Personal Injury Department. I have recently shifted my focus and devotion to practicing 100% of my time to Workers' Compensation, specifically helping injured workers.
I am a member of the Workers' Compensation Department of Bovis, Kyle & Burch, LLC. I graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1985. Upon moving to Georgia in 1987 and having left the Tax Exempt Municipal Bond Practice of the Law Firm of Balch & Bingham, I began my practice as a trial lawyer, focusing in the area of Insurance Defense. I am so blessed to have the privilege to advocate for families in Georgia. In my practice of restructuring families, I have had the opportunity to represent both husbands and wives and mothers and fathers in their divorces, legitimations, child custody matters, child support modifications and paternity actions. These representations include the prosecution and defense of these matters. While every case is different, many of the cases are ripe for resolution short of litigation. However, some of them must be litigated to the fullest extent in a courtroom. When you decide to hire hlg you are investing in attorneys who recognize that this is already a difficult time in your life and you need intelligent legal counsel with true compassion. I offer this delicate balance of strong and tenacious representation with comfort and respect for the very delicate subject matter. I work hard to ensure that the legal process understood so you can be prepared.. I bring a diverse perspective to assist our clients in their personal injury matters. We assist clients in various personal injury matters including car accidents, slip and falls, malicious prosecution, negligent security and other matters. We work efficiently to ensure the clients have as much knowledge about the process – including “behind the scene” knowledge. We go above and beyond the requirement and deliver professional and personal attention. An example of this stellar service is that we always attempt to reduce medical bills to ensure as much money as possible goes directly to the client even though it does not increase the amount of money we receive. While we strive to resolve claims as soon as practical, we refuse to settle an unfair claim, thus, many of our matters have to move forward in litigation.. To conclude our family representation, we also offer estate-planning service, including simple wills.. I began my career as a bond attorney where I served as counsel for governments and other entities who borrowed money for public purposes. I learned so much from this practice but I believe my major lesson was refining my case management and document drafting skills.. I look forward to utilizing all of my training to work for you!

I am an avid motorcyclist for many years and a member of the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club.. I am an FAA licensed pilot with multi-engine, instrument, and commercial ratings.
I am privileged to serve as outside general counsel for businesses that typically do not have an inside legal department. My favorite clients are entrepreneurs who are passionate about their businesses. I am pleased to help them grow and maximize the value of those businesses, which are often the owners' primary assets.. The breadth of my business experience before settling on a legal services career has shaped my approach to business advice and client service. I have been a grocery store manager for The Kroger Company, a State and Local Tax Consultant for both Arthur Andersen and KPMG, and have worked as a business and tax attorney for two large and one small law firm. I have even worked as a jewelry salesman and a men's suit salesman (at Macy's). As a result, I have a perspective that is somewhat unique among business attorneys.. I truly enjoy helping new and emerging growth companies realize their true potential.

I look forward to providing excellent customer service through strategic advocacy.
I am passionate about my clients. I believe the “practice of law” has been lost in the modern law practice. Other firms practice “the business of law.” They see clients as the value of their case and how much money can be collected for a settlement in the least amount of time. The practice of law focuses on the best interests of the client and serving their needs for the best possible result. The practice of law also focuses on achieving justice, which is offering clients a voice in a complicated legal system.. Other firms who take any case offered them are practicing a business model that forces them to quickly settle cases without becoming experts in the cases they represent. This means that justice is sacrificed because other firms haven’t developed the expertise or desire needed to achieve the highest value of the case. My clients are more than just the cases they represent. I am passionate about achieving justice for them.. I’ve spent over 25 years honing my craft in personal injury litigation. I was drawn to personal injury because I was fascinated by trial law. I enjoyed having the ability to change people’s lives. Medicaid and Truck Transportation companies and their insurance teams wield tremendous power over accident victims. I enjoy using my experience and expertise to provide power to people who would otherwise have no voice.. It’s a fighting spirit and tenacity I learned from my parents. As a boy working on my father’s farm, I learned the value of hard work and a determination to never give up.. Call now for a Free Consultation
