In 1997, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude), earning my law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2000 (Magna Cum Laude). I joined Fulcher Hagler, LLP in 2001, directly following a clerkship with the Honorable W. Leon Barfield, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Georgia.. As a member of the State Bars of Georgia and South Carolina, my litigation-oriented practice primarily incolces the representation of commercial and individual defendants emroiled in civil litigation, although I also enjoy and solicit Criminal Justice Act appointments from federal trial and appellate courts. Among other bar-related pursuits, I presently serve on a standing committee in the US District Court for the Southern District of Georgia -- one of the few remaining federal districts nationwide without a federal public defender -- which advises the Court and makes recommendations to it concerning the CJA appointment process and management of the CJA panel.
I was born in Forrest City, Arkansas, but spent several years moving around the Southeast, spending time in Lexington and Charleston, before my family finally settled in Tega Cay, South Carolina, where I graduated from Fort Mill High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina in 1989. From there, I traveled to Athens, Georgia to attend the University of Georgia, where I received my undergraduate and law degrees in 1993 and 1996, respectively.. After graduating from law school, I moved to Thomson, Georgia, where I clerked for the Honorable E. Purnell Davis and Roger W. Dunaway, Jr. of the Toombs Judicial Circuit. I have been with Fulcher Hagler LLP since August of 1999, becoming a partner in 2004. In that time, I have developed a varied litigation practice, trying cases involving personal injury, insurance coverage, construction defects, contract disputes, fraud, premises liability, contested probate matters and domestic disputes across Georgia and South Carolina. I’m also a strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution.. I have been appointed a Community Member of the Georgia Regents University Conflict of Interest Panel and am also an active member of The Church of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Augusta, GA. In the past, I have served as President of the Toombs Circuit Bar Association and on the Executive Board of the Young Lawyers of Augusta. Currently, I am a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and the Augusta Bar Association. Other activities include hiking, biking and visiting our National Parks.
I have been practicing law for 30 years. I started as a defense attorney representing insurance companies. I switched my practice in the early 1990's to focus on representing people who were seriously injured or killed in an accident. I have spent most of my years as a lawyer practicing at Maine' largest law firm, working my way up to Partner in Charge of the Firm's Augusta Branch Office. I left the large firm in 2015 to form my own firm and in 2016 added a partner. The firm continues to grow with the addition of two other lawyers and 5 staff members. Our firm focuses on quality, compassion and results. We look forward to the opportunity to represent you.
