I practice property and casualty insurance law. That means I deal with legal issues about insurance for things like cars, homes, businesses, professional malpractice, cyber insurance, that sort of thing. (One of the only major areas of insurance I do not do is health insurance. That's a whole other ballgame.) I represent insurance companies and insureds (people with insurance). My practice is split about sixty percent insurer and forty percent insured. I hope that my experience working in-house for major insurers, as a CPCU, and as a trial lawyer and small business owner help me provide better representation to my clients.. Most of my practice is coverage litigation --fighting over whether an insurance policy covers a loss. I also do bad faith litigation --fighting over whether an insurance company denied a claim in bad faith. And I do malpractice litigation --fighting over whether an insurance agent negligently failed to set up the insurance policy right.. I am also a trial lawyer. I try cases to verdicts. I've been doing it since the 80's.. I am also a mediator. I work for several local circuit courts to help mediate cases so they do not get to trial.. I have also served as an expert witness in litigation about insurance bad faith for both insurers and insureds.

Hello and thank you for checking out my Avvo Profile:. I have been practicing law for more than 30 years. My father was a lawyer and my son is a lawyer. To say that the law is a part of me is an understatement. Whether in Family Law, DUI, serious traffic matters, drug cases or criminal situations in general, I have mostly represented good people during difficult times. I choose not to represent what some people, professional or otherwise, refer to as "scum bags." I am not interested in the rights of the guy who beats up and rapes someone's grandmother, sorry.. I truly enjoy helping people turn their lives around for the better. Notwithstanding my "scum bag" comment, I am non-judgmental when it comes to my clients and not too proud to refer clients to other attorneys when I may lack the experience in an area of law that I do not regulary handle.. Although the "good ole boy" system that my father navigated through in the 1960's - 1980's is all but gone, it still pays to know as many people in various positions as posible. Although anyone can have an occasional bad day, I am pretty sure that I am well-liked and respected as a person and as a lawyer and this helps immensely in the art of advocacy.. When it comes to separation, divorce and child custody cases ---- "Been there and done that, and some". Trust me, when I say, "I know how you feel" -- I mean it. I can help on many levels. No two cases are alike no matter how similar. Rumor has it that too many lawyers treat many emotionally charged cases like they are all the same. That is probably not what you need. I know how you feel.. One of my pet peeves: I do not like when people do not respond to phone calls or emails in a timley fashion. Lawyers unfortunately are notorious for not getting back to clients and it is one of the biggest client complaints. Because it is a pet peeve of mine I appreciate the importance of being available to my clients 24-7.
