This breadth of experience also serves my clients well in drafting sound legal documents and keeping my clients and their loved ones out of court. In litigation I saw the pitfalls and missteps that get people into expensive legal disputes. So I take care to understand my clients and their goals. And I put my 17 years of legal experience to work when I help them to plan their estate, manage a trust, probate a family member's estate, or enter into a business arrangement.. I care about my community. I see apathy and cynicism arise when people feel like their needs and opinions do not matter. So I spend my free time helping to build and strengthen community organizations that empower people to make a difference. With strong community ties, I am better able to help my clients understand what resources are available for them, and help them get what they need.. Education. My practice focuses on Elder Law but I handle estate planning and related matters for clients of all ages. Elder law primarily encompasses estate planning, probate, guardianship, special needs planning, and elder protection. I am Certified Elder Law Attorney.* This certification is given by the National Elder Law Foundation only after meeting rigorous testing and experience criteria. It is exceptionally rewarding to provide guidance and support for clients as they face the complicated issues associated with aging. The work is made even more enjoyable by the amazing team at the Elder Law Offices of Meyers, Neubeck and Hulford and I enjoy coming to work every day to see both my co-workers and clients. Before coming to the Elder Law Offices of Meyers, Neubeck and Hulford, I was in-house counsel for the Lummi Nation with a practice focusing on human resource issues, governmental administration and criminal prosecution. When I am away from work, I spend a lot of time riding bicycles in the woods.. *The State Supreme Court of Washington does not recognize certification of specialists in the practice of law and that certificate, award or recognition is not a requirement to practice law in the state of Washington.

My law practice takes a unique view of the practice of law. Our DUI Defense look at each and every case from different perspectives. Obviously we look at the DUI case from a Washington DUI Defense attorney's perspective and how we can defeat each case or portions of evidence, but we also like to think outside the box. For example, there is always a chance that our client's story, the things that make our client unique and inherently good, cannot be ignored. While this personal approach doesn't work in every case, there are many that it will. Therefore it cannot be overlooked.. Our DUI defense lawyers service most of Western Washington from Skagit County, Whatcom County and Snohomish County We have two offices serving our clients. For Skagit County DUI cases we have an office in downtown Mt. Vernon near the courthouse. For Bellingham DUI cases we have a Bellingham office conveniently located next to the Jail, Whatcom County District Court and Bellingham Municipal Courts.. Our representation is not limited to these County courts however. We have an active practice in Lynnwood Municipal Court and in fact, I have practice Lynnwood DUI cases since 1998 when I became the City's prosecutor. I have 35 years experience representing persons accused of crime. I have defended my clients against accusations ranging from simple misdemeanors to capital offenses. I believe that thorough investigation of the facts and research of the law, combined with listening to my client brings about the best result.
I grew up in the small town of Conway, Washington creating strong bonds with the area and people. After receiving my transfer degree from Skagit Valley College, I attended Western Washington University and double majored in Political Science and Psychology. It has been my longstanding view that a lot of the people that should become lawyers tend to shy away from the field. Coming from a less traditional background as a Commercial Fisherman, I decided to pursue law as a profession and attended Pace Law School in White Plains, New York. It has always been my goal to represent common people, rather than large corporations. In addition, I prefer being a solo attorney where I can directly interact with my clients, and you can be assured your case will not get passed to someone less qualified.
I graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane in 1997. I started working as a Deputy Prosecutor in the Yakima County Prosecutor’s office that fall. As a Deputy Prosecutor, I prosecuted cases from Driving Under the Influence to serious felony sexual assaults. Approximately six years later my family moved to Bellingham and I continued working as a Deputy Prosecutor for the Whatcom County Prosecutor’s Office. In 2006, I opened my own office and have practiced criminal defense ever since. In 2016, I got the opportunity to come to work at Maxwell & Webb, PLLC. I currently represent injured workers, personal injury clients and continue to represent people accused of criminal offenses. In my career I have accumulated extensive trial experience, having tried over 100 cases to juries and judges, including lengthy murder, manslaughter and robbery criminal trials.. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending my time with my wife and kids. I enjoy reading, music, sports, volunteering for Meals On Wheels, Toys For Tots and the Bellingham Community Meal Program and traveling.
I am a local boy, born and raised in Whatcom County, and I understand the complexities and inner-workings of this very interesting and diverse community. My familiies have lived here for at least 5 generations and I am proud of my heritage and deep roots here.. My family incorporates two of Whatcom County's biggest industries; commercial fishing and farming. I grew up around boats, cows, and in the woods, and was fortunate to have parents that supported and encouraged my interests as a kid and I credit them greatly for being the first college graduate in our extended family.. Now I have a family of my own, my wife Heather and I have 3 wonderful kids who are active in sports and the community and we are lucky enough to get a chance to be involved in their school and athletics and we feel lucky to be able to raise them in Bellingham and the Northwest.. Not only do I relate to and understand our clients, I understand our community and the morals and ideals I believe it cherishes. As a former prosecutor I have good working relationships with the prosecutors and am able to use those relationships to paint our clients as people, not just a file or a case number. That's our winning edge.. I have literally travelled the world, thanks to the U.S. Navy, and I am extremely lucky to live and work in the part of the world I love the most. Come see us if you need help, we're more than willing to listen and make your troubles a part of your past while getting you to the future you want.
