My father's parents immigrated to America from Russia, but my mother's parents were born in Southeast Washington, D.C., where my grandmother was raised.. I have three daughters, one at Elon University in North Carolina, and two who still attend the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland.
