My practice of family law is distinguished by my unique understanding and compassion for my clients and the issues they face as they wade through the stressful and often unpredictable process of dissolving a marriage. Raised by divorced parents in two different households, I am keenly aware of and sensitive to both the emotional underpinnings as well as the logistical realities of separation, divorce and custody disputes. I listen to my clients, understands their perspectives and help them anticipate issues and identify both their short- and long-term goals. I work closely with my clients to help them develop practical, creative and cost-effective strategies for attaining those goals.. I have extensive experience handling all family law issues that arise, from negotiation and drafting of separation agreements, through litigating contested divorce and custody cases. I practice across Maryland and handle complex custody and access disputes, sophisticated property distribution and business valuation issues, alimony and child support matters, post-judgment modification and enforcement cases, domestic violence matters, adoptions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and appellate advocacy.. I understand that no two cases are the same; there are no successful cookie-cutter approaches in life or in family law. I take my obligation seriously as both an attorney and a counselor at law, and take time to ensure my clients understand their options. I am at my best when guiding my clients through the daily issues of their cases, and when counseling clients as they make important decisions that will have a long-term impact on their and their children's lives. I have been recognized by Maryland Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star (2012-2021) and as a Super Lawyer (2022), by Best Lawyers in America (2016-present), by Washingtonian Magazine as a Top Divorce Lawyer (2020, 2021) and by Bethesda Magazine as a Top Divorce Attorney (2019, 2021). I was inducted into the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (one of only 38 attorneys in the State of Maryland to be included) in 2020.. I believe that lawyers have an obligation to serve their community beyond the practice of law. I am an active member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and I'm routinely appointed to leadership positions. Currently, I serve on the Judicial Selections Committee, tasked with vetting and endorsing candidates for the Bench (I have previously served as Vice Chair and Chair); as well as co-chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. In the past, I have served as co-chair of the New Practitioner’s Section; co-chair of the Association’s annual Special Olympics project, the Inspiration Walk; co-chair of the Family Law Section; and co-chair of the Leadership Development Committee. I have been recognized for my service, receiving several awards from the Bar Association. I also serve the community by presenting educational programs regarding separation, divorce and custody around Montgomery County. I grew up in Frederick County; and in my spare time, I enjoy rooting for the Ravens, cooking and traveling, and spending time with my husband and sons.

Elizabeth ("Beth") Weisberg is a highly experienced divorce attorney in Lerch, Early & Brewer’s Family Law group, skilled in both litigation and in alternative dispute resolution. She has worked nationally on child-related issues and is especially proficient at helping her clients, with or without children, define and accomplish their goals. Beth emphasizes resolving even difficult or complex family law situations without going to court when possible. Where children are involved, Beth focuses on resolving custody and child access issues in ways that protect children from being negatively impacted by the divorce.. Beth has worked with the American Bar Association's Child Support Project educating attorneys, judges and court personnel nationally on interstate child support enforcement laws and procedures. In her 39 years of family law practice, she has contributed to various legal publications on topics including premarital agreements, division of marital property, custody, evidence, long-arm jurisdiction and interstate support enforcement.. Beth practices with an emphasis on collaborative law, a process by which divorcing couples work together with their attorneys in meetings where the concerns of both parties are addressed, with a requirement of full disclosure and a written, signed commitment to resolve all issues leading to a full divorce settlement agreement without going to court. This process is private, can help couples to reach immediate solutions, and sets the stage for the parties to better deal with changes that may occur after the divorce, such as the need to revise support or child-related issues. While not appropriate for all couples, in most cases the collaborative law approach can be transformative and avoids the escalation of hostility and overwhelming cost inherent in litigation. Clients value Beth’s ability to identify creative solutions, thorough understanding of the law, and compassion in dealing with the challenges of divorce.. Beth received a Bachelor of Arts from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and her Juris Doctor With Honors from The George Washington University National Law Center. She is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.. These often include spousal support, asset distribution, child support, or high-conflict custody and visitation disputes.. Erik is listed in Best Lawyers in America for Family Law and in the Maryland and DC editions of Super Lawyers. Bethesda Magazine calls Erik one of the “Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under 40.” He also has been recognized by his peers in the bar association with the President’s Citation for Outstanding Service and the Bar Leader award.. The Churchill grad brings the same focused commitment to his service to the community where he grew up, which includes supporting Montgomery County Special Olympics athletes and feeding the homeless at Shepherd’s Table (a continuation of “helping other people at all times”).
