In addition to white-collar crimes, Mr. Parkman has successfully defended countless federal drug and weapons offenses, as well as allegations of homicide, arson, and burglary.. I was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1986, after graduating from Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, Alabama, that same year. Prior to attending law school, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and was licensed and worked as a Registered Nurse in Alabama, Colorado, and California. After completing law school, I began the practice of law with a small firm in Andalusia, Alabama, where I hoped to put my knowledge of medicine to use as a trial lawyer. I was extremely fortunate to work for and learn from one of the pioneers in Alabama personal injury law, Frank Tipler. During this time, my practice included cases involving medical malpractice, products liability, motor vehicle accidents, and worker’s compensation.. In 1990, I returned to Birmingham. For the next twelve years, I continued to represent personal injury clients and injured workers, but also began representing the interests of the disabled. In particular, I began representing individuals seeking Social Security disability benefits and individuals whose benefits had been denied by long-term disability insurance companies. My background in medicine was particularly well suited to these cases which almost always involve medical problems.. In January 2003, I formed the Pennington Law Firm, L.L.C., where I continue to focus on protecting the rights of the disabled, and continue to represent people with claims against long-term disability insurance companies. This includes individual claims, as well as those governed by the Employees Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”). I have been litigating claims against long-term disability carriers for over 25 years.. I also continue to represent claimants seeking disability benefits under the Social Security Act, including claims for SSI and Disability Insurance Benefits. Since 1990, I have represented several thousand Social Security disability benefit claimants. I frequently receive referrals of disability cases from other attorneys, as well as from health care professionals. I represent Social Security claimants at both the Administrative and Federal Court levels. I frequently represent claimants before the Administration in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee.. I am currently is admitted to practice in all State Courts in Alabama, the Federal Courts for the Northern, and Middle Districts of Alabama, the Northern District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
I provide legal representation in Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Divorce, Family Law, Child Custody and Child Support in Vestavia Hills and throughout the greater Birmingham, AL area including Jefferson County, Shelby County and the surrounding communities.

I was in charge of writing most of the firm’s appellate briefs, and I ran all aspects of the civil litigation side for the firm, including case management, complex discovery, motions practice, depositions, trials, and appeals, when necessary. Most of the civil cases that I have handled were on behalf of injured individuals but I have also successfully represented businesses as well. I will fiercely advocate for my clients, while doing so with honesty and integrity.
I grew up in tiny Livingston, on the western edge of Alabama’s Black Belt, and has carried forward the small-town values of hard work, respect, and fairness into his law practice.. I graduated from the University of Alabama twice — with an undergraduate degree in business in 1998 and with a law degree in 2002. After receiving his J.D., he joined a Birmingham insurance defense firm, where he stayed for five years until he realized that he wanted to work on behalf of injured people instead of insurance companies.. I enjoyed the experience there in the sense that I learned a lot and it made me a better attorney. I don’t know if I’d be as good at what I do now but for the experience of seeing how the other side evaluates things, and the things that scare them. But you’re representing corporations, and your point of contact is an insurance adjuster who’s not concerned about anything but reports and evaluations that aren’t really concerned about right or wrong.. I crossed over to the plaintiff side of the law, joining a Montgomery law firm that concentrated in that area. I stayed there for three years, then ventured out on his own and joined forces with an old law school friend, in 2013. Together we formed the Serious Injury Law Group.. My practice focuses solely on personal injury cases, and he has achieved some significant outcomes on behalf of his clients. They include a medical malpractice jury verdict of $3.5 million and multiple seven-figure settlements in medical malpractice and trucking cases.. My goal is for each client to get the highest level of legal services and personal attention from my firm.

I am a personal injury attorney who enjoys representing people that have been injured in almost any type of incident. Before I represented injured persons, I previously represented the people/companies doing the injuring. In other words, I was hired by insurance companies to defend their insureds in personal injury cases. Thus, I have the distinct advantage and somewhat unique perspective of having previously been a defense lawyer. I am able to use that experience and perspective to help the people I reprsent now.. Although I handle more car/truck/motorcycle wrecks than anything else, I particularly like to represent injured cyclists given that I am an avid cyclist myself. In addition, I have handled several other type of cases including dog-bite cases, mis-filled prescription cases, slip/trip and fall cases, as well as some product and employment liability cases.. In addition to cycling, I enjoy going on hiking trips with my wife. Another activity that I enjoy is playing table tennis and I am activily involved in a table tennis league. Swimming, working - out and reading kind of round out my hobbies.. My 3 children are now all in college so planning trips to see them is fun. I've thought about getting a dog to have around the house, but not yet ready to make that committment.
Honza Prchal is an associate of the firm whose areas of emphasis include mass torts, especially pharmaceutical and medical device work, and also general litigation. He has spent at least half his time on mass torts even before he started working with W. Lewis Garrison, Jr. in 1997, and he continues to enjoy helping clients navigate and understand an esoteric and confusing area of law where it is far too easy and far too common for clients to feel like numbers, rather than individuals with claims. Since Honza had to go through immigration himself and help his wife through US Immigration, he is highly motivated to try and help clients get on with their lives with less of the unique dread a large impersonal bureaucracy like an MDL proceeding with Plaintiffs’ Management Committees can engender. Honza is a member of the American Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi, the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, a life member of the Antient and Honourable Edmund Burke Society at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Federalist Society, where he was twice an officer at the University of Virginia School of Law and was an officer in the Birmingham Lawyers' chapter for several years. He was a founding member and officer of the International Civitan Club of Metro Birmingham Chapter of Civitan International and also a member of the ACTION Civitan chapter. He was captain of the Moot Court Team and was Dicta Editor at the Virginia Law Weekly. He served as English language press secretary for Vaclav Klaus, Finance Ministry, Czech and Slovak Federative Republic, 1991. He has been active in choral music since grammar school , has represented the firm at Croonin' for Critters and in trivia competition and used to be a competitive fencer in all three weapons, but especially epee. Honza volunteers at All Saints Episcopal Church, his daughter’s school and at a number of Bar Association and alumni events, but his legal pro bono work is mostly with the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program “Attorney for the Day” program where he can be found just about every month trying to help pro se claimants through the vagaries of the court system in Downtown Birmingham. Past volunteer work that he found interesting was interviewing veterans for the library of Congress. Since some of his own family was liberated by American troops in World War II and he saw the effects of their post-war departure on his family’s own country and on that of his friends,’ he found this particularly rewarding. He also did some pro bono work for the Birmingham Fencing Club.

The attorney has efficiently aided clients who have been intentionally or negligently exposed to these carcinogenic minerals in the process of filing a lawsuit against asbestos manufacturers or companies, thus obtaining the financial compensation they were eligible for. Gregory A. Cade’s personal vision can be summed up as “Know your case”, which has also been the leading principle throughout his professional practice. He approaches each asbestos litigation case from both a personal, humane point of view and a legal perspective in order to ensure the most positive outcome for his clients.. Gregory A. Cade received his Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science and Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health in 1991 and completed a master’s program in Occupational Health, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996. He is also a member of several groups and associations such as the National Registry of Environmental Professionals, the American Bar Association, as well as the Magic City Bar Association.. Gregory A. Cade has also been an environmental consultant and OSHA compliance expert for a brief period of time, his work focusing on groundwater contamination and worker exposure to hazardous substances in various industries such as petroleum processing and steel manufacturing. The attorney has worked closely with epidemiologists, toxicologists, and other scientists at the UCLA School of Public Health as well, which undoubtedly represented a great opportunity during which he substantially expanded his knowledge on the detrimental health effects of occupational and environmental exposure to toxic agents. Additionally, Gregory A. Cade is a Registered Environmental Manager of the National Association of Environmental Professionals.. The fundamental professional motivation of Gregory A. Cade is represented by his avid interest in the legal system, as well as by his passion for science, particularly chemistry and biology. Desiring to pursue a career that would cater to both of his passions, he decided to become an environmental attorney, a profession that Gregory A. Cade considers to be very rewarding. Although asbestos cases are often extremely difficult and challenging to resolve, the attorney is permanently bound to provide his clients with support and quality legal representation. Thus, toxic exposure victims can successfully obtain the compensation they are entitled to from companies that turn a blind eye to chemical use and exposure or completely neglect the issue.
