I concentrate on corporate, securities, investment management, financial and renewable energy matters.  My practice includes a variety of general corporate law areas, including the organization, operation and financing of corporations and other business entities, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, equity plans, employment matters, the organization and operation of investment advisers, broker dealers, hedge and private equity funds and related regulatory and compliance matters, securities laws and secured transactions.   I spent a year and a half studying abroad in German through Tufts University and Georgetown University Law School and am proficient in German.

Eric J. Krathwohl, a managing director and member/shareholder of the firm, concentrates on energy, telecommunications and regulatory matters, including renewable energy projects and corporate and finance work for electric, gas water utility, and telecommunications companies. For over thirty years, Eric has had an active practice before the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities and Department of Telecommunications and Cable and many other regulatory commissions, having represented energy and telecommunications companies in scores of adjudicatory and rulemaking proceedings throughout the northeast U.S. and beyond. Also, his practice has included representation of clients in numerous commercial transactions. He has been active in matters relating to restructuring of the electric, gas and telecommunications industries, and increasing competition in those industries. Eric has represented clients in several matters before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and has been a speaking panelist with top industry and government officials at conferences on a variety of energy, telecommunications, and water issues. He also has considerable experience in a variety of corporate and contractual matters in the telecommunications and energy fields.

Concentrating in creditors' rights and business insolvency, Jim represents banks, hedge funds, leasing and finance companies, commercial landlords, trade and other creditors in enforcing their rights in all manner of workout, debt restructuring and insolvency proceedings. Jim has also served as counsel to Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees and he has served as counsel to creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 cases. Jim has also represented sellers and purchasers of assets in bankruptcy proceedings. Jim has served as a state court receiver and has represented secured creditors in receivership proceedings. Jim has appeared before various state and federal courts throughout New England. He has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States.. Jim served as law clerk to Thomas W. Lawless, Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association as well as the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues.. Jim has been named a Massachusetts "Super Lawyer" for eleven successive years between 2004 and 2015.. Jim resides in Reading, Massachusetts and serves as a director and former President of the Reading Scholarship Foundation and as a director of Reading Cooperative Bank.
