William Roa was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and for the first few years of his early childhood was raised in Bogota, Colombia.  Colombia is where he first learned the Spanish language.  Thereafter, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts..
