There are facts of my background that I want you to know about my life as a lawyer:. I began practicing law when I was in law school at Boston University in 1970. Law students could appear in Family Court for divorces and Justice Court for evictions – I worked for Greater Boston Legal Aid and the New Hampshire Legal Aid Society.. My first post-law school position was with Georgia Legal Services doing all there was to do with welfare law/civil rights and litigation against the government. This included administrative hearings, rule-making and federal court lawsuits. That lasted from 1972 to 1980.. I moved to New Mexico where I established a private law practice with a mixture of individual representation, legal aid work and national training/litigation. It was a relatively brief endeavor, from 1980 to 1982.. The prospect of work in Washington DC came to me, and I left New Mexico in 1982 to take a position with the National Legal Aid and Defender Association where I directed a project to protect and enhance civil legal services to the poor. This was “for a good time but not a lifetime”, and I returned to the West in 1985.. Then there was Nevada, and I have been here ever since 1986. My long-term job was as the Executive Director of Nevada Legal Services. Although I began as a litigation counsel, the work evolved into fundraising, lobbying, management with the inevitable personnel administration, case management systems and political relationships.. My current practice is only two-years’ old. I opened it in November 2009, in Carson City. Most of the work is with homeowners with troubled real property. Although I do an array of other legal work, my real interest lies in helping people with their distressed housing.. I became a lawyer to help people. My journey has taken me far – and far afield. I am enthusiastic about returning to the core work: being legal counsel for individuals and families who have problems which I can assist them in solving.. That is who I am.

Samuel I. Figueroa is an attorney in the Northern region of Nevada. Mr. Figueroa specializes in misdemeanor crimes that range from DUIs to Domestic Battery along with minor traffic offenses. Mr. Figueroa has a passion for criminal defense because his father and uncle were incarcerated for a quarter of their lives before their deaths for drug and violent offenses. Further, Mr. Figueroa’s mother brought him to Church to recover from this familial tragedy. This also sparked his passion to be apart of the Church and trust in Jesus Christ. Outside of work, Mr. Figueroa enjoys bodybuilding at the gym, hiking at Lake Tahoe, and spending quality time with family.

Ryan Russell, who joined Allison MacKenzie in 2004, offers his clients a comprehensive background of practice areas.   In addition to his work with Allison MacKenzie, Ryan is active in the community as a Special Master for the Carson City Juvenile Court, Judge Pro Tem for the Carson City Justice and Municipal Court and serves as Carson City's representative on the State Bar of Nevada's Board of Bar Governors.  He also volunteers his time to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada and served as President of the Board of Directors in 2004.

Mike Pavlakis was born April 2, 1952, in Ely, White Pine County, Nevada, of Greek immigrant parents. His undergraduate studies were at Chapman College, Orange, California, where he participated in the World Campus Afloat program in the Spring, 1972. Upon graduation in 1974, Mike attended law school at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco, graduating in 1978. Mike's diverse educational background includes a diploma in European Integration from the University of Amsterdam. Mike was admitted to practice law in the State of California in 1978, and in the State of Nevada in 1979. He served as a law clerk for Justice Manoukian at the Nevada Supreme Court for one year, 1978-1989. Mike joined the law offices of Allison MacKenzie in 1979, and he now offers expertise in corporate governance, business, real estate, health, and education law. Karen joined the law offices of Allison MacKenzie in 1983.  Karen is admitted to practice in Nevada as well as the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada.  Her areas of practice include public utility law, administrative law, telecommunications law, wtaer law, litigation and business law.  Karen appears before the Department of Water Resources, Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, Department of Taxation and Division of Environmental Protection.  Karen is Judge Pro Tem for the Carson City Justice and Municpal Courts.   She is also active in Soroptimist International of Carson City, serving as President and other offices.

Jennifer McMenomy joined Allison MacKenzie as an associate in 2018. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno and obtained her law degree at Western State University College of Law. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2015 and to the State Bar of Nevada in 2016.. A Carson City native, Jennifer served as a Policy Analyst for the 2015 Nevada State Legislature – State Assembly. She was also employed as a Government and Regulatory Affairs Analyst for a solar energy company and worked as an attorney in the Bay Area before deciding to return to her hometown.

I'm an attorney with Allison MacKenzie, Ltd where I practice labor and employment law with a primary focus on representing managment. Prior to joining Allison MacKenzie, I served as the State of Nevada Labor Commissioner . I have extensive experience in the areas of wage and hour, labor and employment law, union issues, prevailing wage and public works. Additionally, I have a proven track record of engaging with the Nevada business community, including conducting numerous trainings on wage and hour compliance with small business groups.

Homa Sayyar has been licensed to practice law in the State of Nevada since October 2007.  She graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in May 2007 with her Juris Doctorate.  Prior to law school she earned her BSBA in International Business at UNLV and has lived in Nevada since mid-2000 after relocating from Wasilla, Alaska.. Originally from the United Kingdom, Homa is a proud U.S. Citizen.  Her first name is a variant spelling of the Persian name for a mythical bird of paradise not unlike a phoenix.  She enjoys outdoors activities like running and bicycling (though not very fast in either pursuit).  She has two children, three dogs, and three cats in Carson City.  She currently works as the Deputy Director of the Nevada Department of Indigent Defense Services.  Previously she has served as General Counsel for the Nevada State Purchasing Division, a Senior Deputy Attorney General at the Nevada Office of the Attorney General, Chief Advocacy Attorney at Nevada's Aging and Disability Services Division, and an Owner of her own civil legal practice.

Dennis is currently Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Nevada Attorney General's Office responsible for legal services to the Nevada Departments of the Transportation, Public Safety and Motor Vehicles. In this role Dennis oversees over twenty professionals.  Previously he practiced law and consulted companies involved in the gaming industry. He was also Vice President, Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel for Harrah's Entertainment (now Caesars Entertainment) where he oversaw the company's compliance program as well as its gaming licensing and corporate investigations functions. He was counsel to the company's government relations and internal audit departments and was also secretary for the Harrah's Foundation. Other positions he held at Harrah's include Vice President Legal Affairs of the western and central operating divisions where he was responsible for legal affairs of the company's commercial and tribal operations in the western, mid-western and southern regions of the US and for managing attorneys and other professionals in those divisions. Dennis also practiced law with the Schreck-Morris firm in Las Vegas. Dennis was also General Counsel and Secretary to Powerhouse Technologies (f/k/a Video Lottery Technologies, Inc.) where he was the Chief Legal Officer for a publicly traded corporation whose primary subsidiaries manufactured gaming and video lottery devices and operated on-line lottery systems for governments. Dennis also has served as the Chief of Investigations for the Nevada State Gaming Control Board and a Deputy Attorney General-Gaming Division.  Dennis is admitted to practice law in Nevada, California and Colorado.

Christopher MacKenzie joined the law offices of Allison MacKenzie in 1994. Since that time, Chris has established his practice primarily in business law, including the areas of business entity formation, contracts, real estate, water law and administrative law. Chris provides counsel on corporate liability, incorporation laws, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, limited liability company operating agreements and other issues related to the creation, maintenance and transfer of business entities. Additionally, Chris provides legislative lobbying and monitoring services for numerous clients of Allison MacKenzie.. A Nevada native and a graduate of the University of Nevada, Chris returned to the Silver State upon graduation from the University of Idaho School of Law in 1993. He was admitted to practice law in Nevada later that same year. His professional experience includes the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit as well as a clerkship to the Honorable Michael E.
